Question about ASUS P5GD1-VM Motherboard

1 Answer

ASUS P5GD1 VM Mboard

All of a sudden the PC that is built on this mboard will not boot normally. It will boot alright to SAFE MODE, but not normal boot.

I have tried to run Norton A/V, Ad-Aware and Spybot, but none of them will finish running before the PC restarts itself and once again fails to boot.

I noticed that when it is attempting to boot it comes up and says IDE 0: Failed to Detect and IDE 1: Failed to Detect. I have checked the connections on both drives, even disconnected and tried to boot that way, but it came up just like it did earlier.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi melnavz,

Hello Mayfield.

Since that your computer is still booting. the processor, memory is good. The only problem you encountered is cannot hold the time when you totally unplug the unit to the wall. iN that case, maybe something wrong with your mboard. maybe there some connection or jumper that was unnoticeally remove which make the battery open circuit. Please refer to the manual of the maboard for some jumper setting.

Burnt down printed compartment part

Your mboard is killed. The chipset is the most difficult thing to handle with and if you have change in color in the board (normal color to a black color) its all over. You remove your HDD and get the inside data by fixin on to another machine.

Installed GeForce 8500 GT PCI-E video card and pc will not turn on

If your mboard has a builtin video card you should configure that b4 u can use that add on card.

1. connect the add on card.
2. connect the monitor to the built in VGA.
3. start system and press "F2 or Delete" to go to bios setup.
4. on bios setup " refer to the manual on installing addon PCI express card".
you find it here:

or enlosed in the board.

After configuring your system restart and unplug in the wall outlet and then connect the monitor in the add on card.

Hope you find in order.
