Make sure printer is connected right, go to the computer ,click on the start button and on the right side click devices and printers. Once open, click add a printer , if you are connected to the internet the computer will find the drivers and install it
Once you have physically unhooked the old printer and all of its cabling and moved it out of the way of your computer, cick on Start > find the Control Panel and click on it > in the Control Panel look for Add/Remove Programs OR Programs/Uninstall Programs. Once you are in there, look for anything related to your OLD Lexmark printer - select it - and click remove/uninstall.
After removing every piece of software related to the OLD Lexmark printer, restart your computer. You should then be able to install your new printer without any issue.
Its a very old modal and the drives probably wont be on the site. What happens is the base drivers remain the same and the next up model (2500) has almost the same drivers and software. You can download it from http://www.downloaddelivery.com/downloads/cpd/cjr2500EN.exe and see if it works.
Also the 2400 is a series look on the front panel of the printer and you will find the exact model number there like 2470 or 2480. Let me know if this works or not.
Here is a link for driver and software. Just choose your operating system and it will show you what you need. If you're not sure, I would download the driver and the ez instructions first. Then you can get your software. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=357&modelid=11642
