Stuck zoom and dies after a few seconds

There is a log-file on the SD card with multiple lines saying:

Error number 2 (0x00000002) reported in AppZoomFailure

Presumably a shock from dropping the camera while the zoom was out has damaged/jammed the mechanism.

If the camera can be opened, perhaps the mechanism can be fixed, but this may be extremely tricky to do.

Do any instructions on such an operation exist?

Some can't accept a card may be bad or incompatible. And while I asked if you formatted the card "in the camera", you just replied you formatted the card, but didn't spell it out and write "in the camera. Take the card and camera back to where you got it and ask them to show you working or ask for an exchange.

SOURCE: won't read sd card - says card not suppoorted

Did you try putting the card in the camera, and using the camera's "format" card option?(Make sure there is nothing on the the card-a format will delete it.) Often times, a digital camera requires a format of the card so the proper file/directory structure can be created. If the card is empty, you have nothing to lose.

SOURCE: camera shuts down at start...pics out of focus sometimes...

Hi, try resetting the camera. To reset it, open the battery cover. You should see a tiny hole right beside the battery release switch. Here's the link for the camera rest: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00598200&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=1154651&lang=en If this does not resolve the issue, you can "live chat" with a HP representative free of charge. SOURCE: Lens Stuck open on Mz67 hp camera Error code Mz60-022

Was this stuck fully open or was the lens partially opened, or was the lens jammed?

The lens can be removed and replaced with another lens from another non-functioning camera (See ebay). The lens component can also be dissembled. Putting the lens back together is tricky because the parts have to be aligned just right for the lens to work. If working with a Jammed lens, extra care has to be considered not to break any of the moving plastic parts of the lens or that part (if not entire lens) is junk.

With the motor detached from the lens, the lens should extend and retract freely. Use this to test the lens when you dissemble the camera. Be careful of the flash board.

Zoom handy recorder H4n ver1.72 stuck on ZOOM window

If your Zoom Handy Recorder H4n is stuck on the ZOOM window and you are unable to access the menu or use the recorder, there are a few things you can try to fix the issue:
  1. Try restarting the recorder by turning it off and then back on again. This can often resolve software issues.
  2. Check the battery level and make sure that the recorder has enough power to function properly. If the battery is low, charge it or replace it with a new one.
  3. Try a hard reset by removing the batteries and/or the SD card, then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds before reinserting the batteries and/or SD card.
  4. If the above steps do not work, try updating the firmware of the recorder. You can download the latest firmware from the Zoom website and follow the instructions for updating the firmware on your device.
  5. If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact Zoom's customer support for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or repair options.
It's important to note that if the recorder is still under warranty, you should contact Zoom for repair or replacement.

I have an 8GB micro sd card for my blackberry storm when i put it in. It says media card has inserted contains errors. to correct the errors use a disk error-checking utility on a computer. what do i need...

Hi,

The chances on any micro sd card showing errors can be either the files stored in it are corrupted or the card is simply bad already. You may try to identify the problem by performing the following steps.

1· Access micro sd card through a card reader. May it be built-in in a computer or an accessory that needs to be plugged-in to a computer.
2· Wait for a few seconds for the computer to read the micro sd card.
a· If it asked you to "open the folder to view files", do so then copy all contents in a new folder on your desktop. This is to make a backup copy of your files. Then, format the micro sd card with FAT32 format. Copy all files back to your micro sd card.
b· If it asked you to format the micro sd card, most likely all files are corrupted. Try to format the card for re-use. If not successful, your micro sd card is bad already and needs replacement.

I hope this works for you. Good Luck!

Cannot find map data files

Hi,

You will need a computer with an SD slot, and running Windows Xp. I tried the following method on a computer running Windows Vista, and it did not work. I tried again on an older Xp machine, and it worked first time.

  1. Put the SD (Map) card in the computer's SD slot.
  2. Open Windows "explore". (RIGHT click on "Start", then select "explore"
  3. Locate your disk on the file menu.
  4. RIGHT click on the map disk
  5. A menu pops up.
  6. At the bottom of the menu, select "properties"
  7. Another menu pops up, with several tabs along the top.
  8. Select the tab that says "tools".
  9. In the "error-checking" section, select "Check Now"
  10. Another menu pops up.
  11. Select the box that says 'Automatically fix file system errors".
  12. Click "Start"
The program will only take a few seconds to run. If it works, you will see the file directories of the SD card display on the "Explore' screen. You can then put the SD card back in the GPS, and see if it works.

My camera wont let me use an sd card

There have been two other posts in this camera's forum about this problem, you could've saved yourself a lot of trouble by reading through the other posts.
This camera only supports an SD card of 1GB maximum. The specifications on page 25 of the User's Manual state that only SD cards between 8MB and 1GB in size can be used in this camera. When I tried a larger-capacity 2GB SD card in this camera it reported that the card needed to be formatted even though the SD card worked fine in my desktop PC's SD card slot. Verify that the capacity of the SD card you're trying to use is 1GB or less.

Zoom H4 Recorder Says, "Card Full!" But it is NOT!

I encounter this error with my 16 gb SD card and Zoom H4n.
I try to format the card inside and outside fo the Zoom, use 8 gb and 32 gb instead of 16gb card and, but get the same error.

But I find a solution.

1. I format my SD card inside Zoom with builtin utility. (Menu - SD Card - Format)
2. I reinstall Zoom firmware
(instruction and download here: http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/h4n/software/ )
3. I format SD card inside Zoom again.

I took a several test and didn't get a "Card Full" error.
