Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

UNIT RUNS FOR APPROXIMATELY 12 / 15 minutes BLOWING COLD AIR, THEN SOUNDS AS THOUGH A RELAY TRIPS IN AND IT BEGINS BLOWING COLOD ? IF LEFT FOR AN HOUR OR SO, IT WILL START TO BLOW THE COLD AIR AGAIN, BUT THE SAME THING OCCOURS AFTER THE TEN TO FIVETEEN MINUTES AGAIN ? ANY IDEAS ? I THOUGHT IT MAY BE SHORT OF GAS ? HOWEVER WHEN I'VE OPENED UP THE CASING, THERRE DOES'NT APPEAR TO BE A POINT ON IT FOR TO HAVE IT RE- GASSED ?

It sounds like you may have a bad capacitor or a poor connection on some wire at the compressor terminals. I assume the fan is running outside with the compressor and that the condenser is clean. *Note if it needs "regassed" (recharged) it means there is a leak somewhere that needs to fixed first. Hopefully that is not your problem.

Couple of things, are your filters clean??? If not clean them It also sounds like a lack of refrigerant, so get the system professionally checked and re-gassed.

It runs cold briefly for about 4 to 5 minutes then

Check the compressor capacitor. It would have gone weak. Replace with the identical value and type.

2 year old Coleman Mach III tapping and not blowing cold air:

Make sure the condensor fan is blowing through the condensor on the roof. It sounds like the compressor is fighting high head pressures after running a bit.. After so many attepts, or if it suceeds in operating the load trips the circuit breaker.. Make sure the condensor is clean and air is passes through it from the fan. Just for clarifiication the condensor is the coil that gets hot and the evaporator is the coil yat create the cold air. Good Luck, and if you will, let me know how it turns out. Good Luck. Ned
