Bought this treadmill at Christmas time last year (2013)and had it assembled by sears. gets used about five times a week maybe less for about 40 mins @ a time. yesterday (july 2014) out of nowhere there was this really loud humming that I had never heard before while I was running. It increases in volume as I increase in speed. It sounds like the motor working really hard, but I also have a buddy who says I just need to oil the belt. Anyone else have this problem?
You don't oil belts as oil will eat away at the rubber. Start with running the machine and checking for lumps of wax build up at rollers (most common issue) if this is not it try oiling roller bearings. But call manufacturer first to see if your warranty is still good because as soon as you touch it it will void warranty.

Likely the cover of one of the motor brushes popped off. Unplug the machine before you pop it back in place, then try it again.
If that doesn't work, most likely it's the motor control board, or possibly the console, or finally just a loose connection behind the console.
But most likely, it's the motor brush cover. I've been seeing that alot with this model.

My EXP000 is doing the same thing. But it is doing it when it is cold also.

Hello there. It sounds as if you may have a button stuck on your console. Thus not allowing any other buttons to be pushed. (i.e. the 4 beeps). This is usually caused by the i-fit buttons (silver buttons on the front). If the machine is only 4 months old you should still be under warranty (1 year) I believe. This problem in most instances requires the console be replaced. You can contact nordictrack through iconservice.com or by using the number on the fron of your users manual.
Good Luck! Tim
SOURCE: Hi, I have a NordicTrack Treadmill, A2050. When
Unplug unit then remove motor shroud then plug unit in then start treadmill your going to use a flat tip screw driver as a stethoscope. Now place the flat on the motor at edge close to the flywheel put your on the handle your ear and you should be able hear if the loud noise form the bearing if not, then repeat procedure on the other end by the fan if the noise is pin pointed on the motor then replace motor, if not originating from the motor the proceed to the front roller.
Use a flash light and observe and locate the font roller shaft so that you can comfortably rest the tip without it slipping on either end of roller.
As before repeat the procedure that was performed on the motor if noise originated their then replace roller if not proceed to rear roller.
Use you flash light and look the adjusting bolts where the end caps are the proceed to insert the screw driver and make contact with the tension bolts listen to each side.
You should locate noise with this procedure take your time and be careful
