Question about RCA DRC630N Portable DVD Player

Glitch with the power jack on our DRC630N

Have had this for about 8 months and when it is playing it will just shut off, if you giggle the power cord it comes back on only to go out again when you hits a lot of bumps. We bought a new power cord thinking there was short in the cord and the same thing happens. I'm guessing the recepticle that you plug the cord into is either bad or has shifted so it's not making a good connection. Can this be fixed?

Hi.

Take out the AC power jack and then remove the laptop battery. Plug AC power back in and see if the laptop will turn on. If it turns on let it boot the operating system and then shut down as normal, remove the power cord and reinsert the battery and again see if it will switch on. If it does then there has been a glitch with the battery. If it doesn't then there is a problem with the battery.

If the laptop won't switch on either with or without the battery then there is a possibility that the motherboard has developed a problem.

Good luck.

1. Test power adapter for output voltage. Bend the power cable in various directions while doing this to be sure that there is no broken conductors in the cable.
2. If power adapter is Ok, connect it & see if the power LED on the laptop will glow when you jiggle the power connector in various directions. If yes, then the DC jack might be loose or damaged, & need to be either re-soldered or replaced.
3. If not, then disassemble the laptop. Remove any components that attach to the laptop's motherboard first (e.g. battery, hard drive, RAM, wireless card, optical drive, ... etc.)
4. Next, remove the keyboard & the LCD screen.
5. Finally, unscrew all screws that hold the upper cover & lower cover together so that you could gain access to the motherboard.
6. Inspect the solder points connecting the DC jack to the motherboard. Make sure that none of them is loose. If any, re-solder them.
7. Inspect the center pin in the DC jack. Make sure that it is not broken or loose. If it is, then you might need to replace the DC jack.
8. When you are done, re-assemble back the laptop.

This 6620 has a small micro switch where the a/c power cord plugs in. It will not run on battery power untill you pull the power cord out of the radio jack.

Its a problem with the dc jack on the motherboard. the solder points underneath the jack have hairline cracks in them and in order to resolve the problem you need to resolder the solder points underneath the jack to make sure it stays in place. Then you won't have to play around with the cord to keep the power on.

Its going to require taking the motherboard out of the laptop and then you will need soldering skills and a solder machine with the solder to do it.

To connect Asus Notebook to Yamaha RV-502 Av Reciever to play music

Hi, Most notebooks have a 1/8 female plugin from your audio card. (headphone Jack)
Now, you need a cord with a 1/8 male plugin on one end and two RCA Jacks on the other.
All you need to do is connect the cord to (AMP) RCA in and the 1/8 Jack to you notebook.

This will work fine. Good luck
