Won't spin fast enough and smells hot

hi ,

depending on the model, it may be the plastic u joint union from the motor to tranny has cracked and getting ready to go completly,
put the machine on its side .the motor has to come off and then the u joint is in between, it sort of looks like the little plastic thing that holds up a pizza box to keep it from getting squished. If your handy you can probably fix it, theyre replaceable, check everything else while your under there, pump and fittings. too.
