Question about Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (WM3945AGMW1WB)
Hi, my OS is XP professional. I have a notebook Dell with wireless board Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection. We have an access point in our office connected to the router and all other notebook access it without problem. My notebook detects the access point but at the time to connect, it keeps trying to connect with no luck. I have downloaded a new version of the driver but same result.
I have tried the manual diagnostic tool of the INTEL program to manage wireless connections, and it appears to be an "assocation problem". The only idea I can think of is that this laptop has not its MAC address listed in the access point configuration... but I do not have access to change this and from what I remember this setting was nos active in our AP. If anyone can think of any help it would be apreciated,
My best suggestion is not to use the Intel wireless manager. Please go into the wireless manager and take off the "check mark" where it says the Intel Manager manages the wireless card. This will disable the Intel wireless manager from managing your wireless card and give control back to Windows.
-Right-click "Recycle Bin" and choose "Explore"
-Right-click "My Network Places" and choose "Properties"
-Right-click on wireless network (should only be 1, maybe 2) and choose "View available wireless networks"
-Click on the wireless name from the list that belongs to your office Access point.
-If it needs a key, enter the key when prompted (it will ask you to enter it twice, one for each line).
-Once you complete this step, you should have wireless access once again.
-Intel will keep prompting you if you'd like for it to manager your wireless, I suggest you ignore this message from this point forward and only use the Windows wireless manager (built-into all Windows OS). :)
