Question about Microtek CX6 Multimedia Projector

3 Answers

Problem1. CX6 - white line runs across on the left side of the screen when movie is showing. Can't figure out what the issue is. Problem 2. - Biggest problem: Project will not show any picture when I connect any high definition player. Last week, I decided to buy PS3 so I can use the blue ray disk that comes with it. Connected the unit to it, project recognize the video source and then went blank. No picture will show on the screen, although it says that its connected to a DVI source. I really need to get help on this, otherwise I will have to return the PS3. Mind you, I also bought an HDMI upconverter DVD player. Same problem. No picture is NOT showing on the screen, although it recognize the HDMI to DVI source.

already tried this solution before your suggestion. Did not work. How about Problem 2. I can live with problem 1, but I need to help solving problem 2.

    Thanks.

Does not work. tried both. Nothing works. I can live with Problem 1. But I really need help with

    Problem 2. - Biggest problem:
Project will not show any picture when I connect any high definition
player. Last week, I decided to buy PS3 so I can use the blue ray disk
that comes with it. Connected the unit to it, project recognize the
video source and then went blank. No picture will show on the screen,
although it says that its connected to a DVI source.
I really need to get help on this, otherwise I will have to return the
PS3. Mind you, I also bought an HDMI upconverter DVD player. Same
problem. No picture is NOT showing on the screen, although it recognize
    the HDMI to DVI source.

A/V receiver with HDMI when connected to the projector reports - "HDCP error". Call manufacturer they told me its because my DVI input does not support HDCP. I am wondering if this is the problem why the PS3 does not work too, although it does not show any error message.

    Any thoughts will be appreciated.

    Your suggestion.

"If you want to use DVI LCD monitor or TV to play PS3, you may try a
kind of gameswitch box, it is used for this kind of situation and also
build in the function of switch to another DVI interface computer. You
may see www.green-box.com.tw for more intro. Hope this will help."

Checked this website. Their gameswitch does no have HDMI to DVI. It has 4 HDMI to 1 HDMI or 4 DVI to 1 DVI. But no cross over between the two.

    Thanks.

Hi there,

I've seen a forum that tackles the same issue. You may want to look at this post:

If you want to use DVI LCD monitor or TV to play PS3, you may try a kind of gameswitch box, it is used for this kind of situation and also build in the function of switch to another DVI interface computer. You may see www.green-box.com.tw for more intro. Hope this will help.

This presents a good explanation: http://www.practical-home-theater-guide....

    Similarly, you cannot
use an HDCP/HDMI enabled A/V receiver to switch an HDCP source to a
non-compliant display via HDMI (or DVI). The only possibility to connect an
HDCP/HDMI source to a non-HDCP one is simply by stripping away the HDCP
encryption and then sends a bit-perfect copy of the original signal to your
display device - either through a component video connection, or through a
non-HDCP DVI or HDMI port. In this manner, you will be re-creating an exact
restriction-free replica of the original high definition content. This is
    exactly what HDCP strippers do!

    How do HDCP Strippers
    work?
An HDCP stripper box is placed between your playback device (e.g.
HD-DVD or Blu-ray player, etc) and your non-HDCP compliant display. It then behaves in a
similar manner to a secure device. In order to achieve this, HDCP strippers
use the same HDCP chips built into high definition displays. The
HDCP source will see a compliant device, so after the authentication
process, it will simply proceed to deliver its signal to the HDCP stripper,
which will then create the non-restricted copy to forward to the sink device.

    This means that an HDCP
stripper can effectively enable HDCP sources like HDTV, HD DVD or Blu-ray
Discs, to work at full high definition resolution with equipment using
either analog or 'unprotected' DVI and HDMI
    inputs.

    Are HDCP Strippers
    legal?
Strictly speaking, HDCP Strippers are in reality encryption
countermeasure devices. Whether all that the user is doing is just removing
the digital rights management from the original signal in order to be able
to view it on his or her non-HDCP compliant HDTV is another story, yet we
cannot see how these devices can pass the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
    (DMCA).

    Are
HDCP strippers freely available on the market?
    Probably, the first
company that came out with such a device was the German company Spatz-Tech,
with its DVIMAGIC HDCP stripper. This HDCP stripper was selling online at just under $500 US. It
first appeared some time in mid-2005 and was sold and marketed as a DVI
amplifier, yet its main attraction was its application as an HDCP
    stripper.

    The DVIMAGIC HDCP Stripper
did not come cheap, but then legal issues apart, $500 is just a small price
to pay for a working display!

    It seems that the DVIMAGIC
is no longer available (all product links seems to have been removed from the
company's website). However, whatever is the case, we are sure that as long
as there is a demand for these boxes, other electronics manufactures will
come up with similar solutions as well.

Wavy horizontal lines across the screen

It sounds that the main power supply section to your TV has the fault. The horizontal thik lines that appears crawling down across the screen should be of video 'HUM'. Have you replaced the main filter capacitor at the power supply section? If not, replace it along with the main rectifier. The AC power is rectifed by a bridge and applied ot this main filter capcitor. It will have a capacitance value between 120 to 350MFD 450VDC. Check this section. Measure the rectifed DC voltage acorss this main filter capacitor. It should be around 350VDC, if your home power supply line is 220VAC. If it is 110AC, this DC voltage will be around 165VDC; and it should be. If rectified DC voltage found lower than the input AC voltage, replace the rectifier bridge. In some sets, this bridge section have four diodes. Some other circuits, a bridge rectifier stalk may be used.
