Remove all video inputs including hdmi if problem goes away. Determine what input is suspect and call smasung for a firmware upgrade. HDMI casued intermittant behavior with this series, but was sometimes seen on component video.

We have a Samsung DLP about 5 years old. We noticed that the fan or some sort of hummning sound was coming from the back louder than normal while TV is on. Then suddenly the picture would start to freeze...

This tv have a colors wheel, hear loud motor noises, humming noises, squiling or grinding noises, have pictures black and white. All these causes are by the colors wheel is worn out, warp rubbing against it motor or fiber plastic glass briddle about to brake aparts.Don't turn this tv on anymore until,u change the colors wheel or u will damage the projection engine. The colors wheel are hard to change for amatur and hobiest.Because involved taking out many machanical parts, before even can come to the colors wheel to take out and change it.The best course to to hire a Tv do this job.The price colors wheel part and labors.Awhile back was about $500-550,now??

TV keeps turning off...

We have a Samsung HL-S6187W that's only a year and a half old that was having the same problem.... it would shut off for no reason... sometimes after being on for awhile but then sometimes it would shut off w/in a minute of it being on. Called Samsung support and they said to unplug and "reset" the T.V. and if that didn't happen they'd send a tech out (at a fairly steep service charge) and they would troubleshoot it. Talked to my audio/video guy that installed it all and he said it was probably the lamp that needed to be replaced (obviously for labor and parts charge). We really don't use the T.V. that much (have another flat screen 20' away in the kitchen we watch more often) so I seriously doubted it was the lamp.... plus it couldn't be turning off from over heating because sometimes it would turn off RIGHT after turning the set on.

After reading several suggestions here on Fixya I incorporated a few options to try and fix it myself and I am ecstatic to report that it's been over a month and a half, and we've watched it alot, and it's completely FIXED and doesn't turn off anymore --- and it didn't cost me a cent to fix!!! WOW!! Thanks to all the suggestions... this is a great website!!

Here's what I did:
1. Took off back lamp cover and vacuumed out the entire area (there wasn't ANY dust... but thought it couldn't hurt to clean it out anyway).
2. I disconnected the temperature sensor and cleaned off the contacts and plugged back in firmly.. (I think this is what the real solution was),
3. I then moved the "Auto Shut Off Switch" back and forth a little then made sure it was in the correct position when I replaced the lamp door cover (it's not hard to make sure it's positioned correctly).

Voila!! It's all fixed! This site has great pictures of the correct way to position the Auto Shut Off Switch and of the temp. sensor if you need it.

Samsung lnt4065 problem

It sounds like the TV was most likely dropped, and there is probably some breakage! I would call right away to have the set exchanged!
