One of the solenoids inside the trans is shorted . TCC,3-2 ,2-3 ,1-2 shift solenoids . Do you know how to test electrical circuits with ohm meter ? Find the PCM or a connector (which ever is easiest ) to get at ! Go here for wiring diagrams http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html free wiring diagrams. Test each solenoid circuit . The fuse supplies power, the PCM - engine computer turns the solenoids on by supplying a ground . Trace the wires from the battery to the solenoid, then from the solenoid to the starter.

My search engine, Bing, came up with a great diagram when "Murray lawn tractor solenoid" was put in the images section. It shows clearly which wire goes where on a generic system.

Yes. There is a wiring diagram for solenoid. Safety should always be the primary consideration when wiring. NitrousWorks strongly recommends the use of electrical relays, which prevent the amperage draw of the solenoids from damaging the activation switches. Not sure what you are saying the problem is.
You have a red wire on the solenoid that goes to the battery and a 50amp fuse. The red and lite blue wire comes from the key switch.
Then you have a black wire that goes from the solenoid down to the starter to energize it. You have a large red wire on the starter coming from the battery to power it.

We do not have wiring diagrams because they are part of a copyrighted repair manual, you can however buy a used Ford booklet that contains them here. for a great price.

Some starter solenoids are mounted on the fender near the battery and some are on the starter itself.

Typically the ones mounted on the fender have two larger posts and one smaller post. For the larger posts: One connects strait to the positive post on the battery. The other connects strait to the starter. The smaller post connects to the neutral safety switch which connects to the start position of the ignition switch. Here is a diagram. Make sure the solenoid is grounded good.

For the solenoid that is mounted on the starter: Connect the positive post of the battery to the large post on the starter. Connect smaller neutral safety switch/ignition switch wire to the smaller post.

Don't forget to hook backup any other wires that were hooked to the positive side of battery/solenoid like alternator wire etc.
