My document won't print. Printer says Check Paper

My document won't print. Printer says Check Paper MP. What does that mean?

  • dot3852 Jun 29, 2009

I had already done that. I've opened every possible port, blown out the dust, shook it sideways, changed paper. Turned it on and off, restarted the computer. It won't print from any source.

    Check Paper MP

It most likely means you have a paper jam. Check to see all the trays where the paper would pass through. In and outwards.... you will find your piece of paper.... it can also be very small too so pay close attention. Remove it and try sending the document to be printed again.

Have you tried unplugging the connector and placing it back in the computer?

Check to see also that the cables for the printer are in good shape

Manual feed isnt working. once tray 1 is open i thought it would automatically know i want to use manual feed.

Not necesarily so, it depends on how you have the printer configured. To test the MP tray, use the arrow keys to get to troubleshooting menu, press check, use arrow keys to get to paper path test, press check, set tray option to tray 1, then print test page. Printer should feed from MP tray. If it does, then the problem is that you do not have the printer set to print from MP tray first or you have the tray options set to exclusive which means that if your print job asks for tray 2 then printer will not print from MP tray unless you specify MP tray in the print options.

My lexmark t430 says load mp feeder letter. what does this mean?

You have send a print job from your application (ex. word), and the paper format in this appl. is letter. The printer tells you to insert a letter format paper in the mp (multi purpose) feeder (upper the tray).
If you press the GO key the print probably proceeds with print job (if has the paper load in mp feeder)

My OKI C5500 will only print from the MP tray, and will not take paper from the bottom paper tray, even though there is plenty of paper in the bottom tray. Its giving me a 490 Error message, but I do NOT...

490 error means -

LOAD mmm AND PRESS ONLINE SWITCH 490: MP TRAY EMPTY

Print job from MP Tray has been received and the MP Tray is empty.

Load the requested media (mmm) in the MP Tray and press ON-LINE.

Check your print driver settings and see if your defualt try is set for the MP Tray. Also see if the page setup for the print job is set for MP tray.

Messege * load mp tray * but tray has plenty of

MP tray is not the cassette it this flap that pulls down above it.

The machine will revert to asking to place paper in its MP tray when the information it is receiving about the document from whatever program tell it that the size is not the same as what the cassette is set to...

so, check page size in of document in word program or whatever you are using

also check paper type and size settings match those you just checked in the printers properties under printers in control panel.

If you put a piece of paper in the MANUAL BYPASS TRAY bot the cassette it will print on that.

To get evverything back to normal, turn off printer, delete jobs in print que, change paper size of document in word/excell/etc is set same as paper type in printer, print again.. all should be good...

p.s. these are good quality printers that why I bother to answer you... cheers

Tray selection issue: Documents may be setup to print to the MP feeder, (multipurpose feed, not manual feed), but the printer will only pull from tray 4. I'm not sure why, earlier this week it would o

The usual reason that the printer will ask you to load paper into the MPF is that the green paper guides in the paper tray is not clicked in the right position. It only needs to be slightly out of position to give the wrong paper size info to the printer. The easiest way to confirm if the guides are correct is to print the Menu Settings Page. Check that the paper sizes listed in that report are the same as the actual paper sizes in each tray. If it's different you need to adjust the guide correctly. It's remotely possible that the sensing switch is faulty but it's more likely that the paper tray guide isn't latched in it's correct position.

Printer error reads 'Paper Out MP CTM'

Sounds like the document that is being sent to the printer, or the one if pending prints are present, has a page size set to other than what the printer has its set to for the tray feed (or tray feed is set wrong), so it is defaulting to the Manual Feed for insertion of correct medium CTM (not sure if int. but thats maybe a country thing we use A4, ENV and B5 mainly

Tray 1 - load ltr (WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!!!)

Hi,

Hope this helps. Please check the printer properties before clicking Ok at print menu command. Now check the available paper tray handler. Try bypass, tray1 or MP tray.

Check also the default paper on Printer Menu command by pressing appropriate setup button. You can try also placing the paper on bypass try if available. The load LTR message means the machine waits a short bond paper on MP tray or on bypass tray.

Best regards,
Rosener
