Our ricoh printer/fax is telling us to replace the photoconductor, but I do not know if it is something I can do or if I need to have it serviced and who to call for service.

Hi,
as long as copy quality is not a issue you can use it. If you order a photoconductor you can replace it by your self.

I believe the PCU on that machine is customer replaceable, and you can find your nearest dealer at www.ricoh-usa.com The PCU will have instructions with it on how to install it.

You can do it. Order one open front door and right door take out toner unplug photoconductor (PCU) push tab down on the upper left of PCU and pull out put in new one taking off anything that is flagged, and new pcu will self adjust.

It all depends on which model you have. Some models you can and some models you must rebuild the PCU.

The photo conductor is simply the drum unit, i think this particular unit lasts for a bout 20 - 30k copies.
This item is a consumable part and is easy for almost any photocopier business to order them in. And is extremely easy for you to change

We have a Ricoh copier Aficio 1022 and the info

The Photoconductor Unit or PCU is easy to replace. The box will come with instructions but it is basically a slide in unit. They will vary in price depending on where you go. You might find one on Ebay cheaper but they generally run around $225. Keep in mind this is a drum/developer unit combination so you are replacing pretty much everything that controls copy quality.
Ricoh part number is 411018 or a type 1027 photoconductor if that helps your search.
A good source for you on parts, toner and supplies is precisionroller.com
They have everything you would need at very competetive prices with free shipping.
Not affiliated with them in any way, just use them regularly.
Good Luck

My ricoh printer is showinf an error of sc440-2

sc440 on the CL7000 is a drum motor error. sc440-2 is specific to the color drum motor. The problem is either the motor itself, the drum gear position sensor, or one or more of the color photoconductor units. The photoconductor units you can replace yourself if you have extras -- see if that will clear up the problem.

If they don't, you'll need to contact a service technician to inspect (and replace if need be) the motor and sensor.

Please rate this solution if it was helpful. Thanks!

We have message to Replace Photocondutor. Is that toner? If not, s it self-install or do we call for Tech?

Most photoconductor assemblies are what they call "CRUs". That means that they are Customer Replaceable Units.

Check with the Ricoh web site "Support" to verify the installation process and order the part.

84 Replace photoconductor?

The photoconductor is the drum unit, usually a kit you would purchase from your product supplier, the box should contain the instructions on what steps need to be taken to complete the operation.

Hope this is of some help.

Replace photoconductor message keeps appearing

Reset it .
If you are enter service mode 5-912 default 60K just input Zero "0" this will deactivate the PCU counter.

If it is bad you will have to replace it. It is the Photoconductor(Drum / Developer) Cartridge

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
