Also make sure that where the oil is pumped against the side of the bar that the oil port (little hole) that feeds oil into the bar's slot is clear. Mine would go through a tank of oil with each tank of gas, but the chain wasn't getting oiled until I cleaned out this little hole.

PUT IT IN THE DISHWASHER AND RUN FOR 10 MINS, MINE WASNT WORKING EITHER SO I DID THIS AND IT WORKED GREAT. THE KEY IS TO LEAVE THE SAW RUNNING WHILE THE DISHWASHER IS RUNNING, THIS WAY IT ALL GETS CLEANED, ALSO USE LIQUID TIDE SOAP WORKS BEST

I believe the 455 rancher and the 460 are basically the same saw. On my 460 there was a black plastic gear driven by the sprocket that drives the oil pump. The teeth on the gear were mangled. The part was about $4 on line. Oiler works fine now.

I have a rancher 455 and it's not suppling enough oil to the bar. Is there an adjustment for this?

The 455 has a 3 position adjustable oil pump, the adjuster screw is up under the crankcase, sprocket side, you need a flat blade screw driver.

I have a Husqvarna 455 rancher that has stopped delivering bar chain oil. I have cleaned, replaced the bar and experimented with different weight oils but still no luck. I keep waste oil in old bar chain...

Most 455s have a three position oil pump, the adjuster is a slot head screw acessed through the bottom of the crankcase, try increasing the flow first, if no better, you need to remove the clutch and sprocket to gain acess to the pump, the oil pump drive gear is nylon and driven by the sprocket, check this is in good condition, behind the pump is a pick up pipe that pushes into the tank via a moulded grommet in the pipe , gently lever this out of the tank,on the end is a filter. if you are brave enough you can increase the throw of the pump shaft by grinding a steeper angle on it, but this is a skilled job and a last resort, i have had to do a few where they are running longer guide bars and need more oil, let me know if you need more help.

Husqvarna 455 Rancher - oil coming out of muffler and not oiler. Just emptied gas and remixed new batch so that should not be issue. It was working fine until I took off chain cover to clean and got brake...

Re-clean the engine case and loose parts. Start the engine with the bar removed--oil should ooze out of the side port where the bar fits to, but nowhere else. Clean the bar drive end oil passages--especially the two small channels that go out to the chain groove on both sides. If you seem to be pumping excess oil out, there should be an oil volume adjustment screw either in the back case or just underneath the case near the lower run of chain. Turn the screw CW to lessen the volume of oil. Hope this helps!

Clutch slipping?

Probably, the interior of the clutch was soaked with oil. Try washing it out with spray carburetor cleaner by removing the cover, chain, and bar. Unless the clutch surfaces were burned from any slipping that occurred, that should restore the clutch. When reassembling, make sure you can move the tightened chain by hand. Check for proper oiling, by running the bar tip at speed in front of a piece of cardboard for several moments-- it should throw off a thin line of oil. Hope this helps!

Turning up the bar oil?

An “OM, 455e Rancher, 455 Rancher, 460 Rancher, 2009-09, EN, FR, ES” Follows (may not be your saw):
http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/HOUS/HOUS2009/HOUS2009_1151382-49.pdf
An excerpt from page 38 of the above OM follows (forcing it may render it inoperative):
Adjustment of the oil pump
Adjustments are made by turning the screw using a screwdriver or combination spanner.
The machine is supplied from the factory with the screw set to position 2.
Turning the screw clockwise will reduce the oil flow and turning the screw anti-clockwise will increase the oil flow.
Recommended settings:
• Bar 13"-15": Position 1 (full CW)
• Bar 15"-18": Position 2 (center)
• Bar 18"-20": Position (full CCW)
These recommendations apply to Husqvarna’s chain oil, for other chain oils increase the oil flow by one step.
WARNING! The engine must be stopped when making adjustments.

455 chain saw does not seam to be oiling the chain enough, checked an cleaned oiler chain an bar ,i cant find my book but i know it can be adjusted but dont know how

Caution it is probably only a 3 position oiler, forcing it beyond either stop may cause failure. The 2009 om (may not be your saw) adjustment is on page 33 of the Operator's Manual (below).
Oil System Plugged.
  1. Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, clean the bar groove, any holes and passages on the rear of the bar (both sides, consider rotating the bar) Clean the saw oiler hole and channel. Insert a blunted, hooked piece of wire through the oil filler hole and pull the hose in the oil tank out. Pay attention to the screen or filter on the free end (clean or replace, difficult to determine serviceability). Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up. If yes reassemble your saw. If no, continue with 2.
  2. Work your way through the linkage cleaning and replacing any defective parts as you go. Carefully check the hoses for cracks especially at bends and connections. If equipped with an oil pump it is usually behind the clutch (clutch is a left handed thread). Please make extensive notes & some digital pictures will help during reassembly.
If it does not oil on completion of 1 it is most likely a bad oiler or worm gear. Please see the IPL to aid in oiler component identification.

455 rancher will not oil, replaced complete oiler,

An IPL with oiler components and part numbers can be here:

Enter the 3 digit model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)
Serial number decode – for use with IPL

06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit before 2000)
15 = week produced - March

Our job is to provide the knowledge and illustrations available to help you determine which oiler component has likely failed. Your job is to apply that knowledge and make the final determination. If you aren’t comfortable doing that then your only option short of saw disposal is your friendly local chainsaw seller/mechanic. You might be pleasantly surprised at how reasonable they are.

455 rancher chainsaw does not pump oil to the chain

If you look under the machine by the chain you'll see a flat head screw (next to the sprocket) which controls the bar and chain oil flow . Try to turn the screw and check if there's any oil flow to the chain . If not you will need to replace the oil pump (part # 537 10 55-02 which will cost you about $35.00) Hope this help
