Question about Smith Corona Wordsmith 200 Typewriter

1 Answer

I just unpacked and set-up a new WordSmith 250 and I can't get the paper to feed in. The paper isn't held tight enough to the platen to pull the paper in using the side knob. I have tried re-positioning the the paper release lever to no avail. Am I missing something or did I get a dud?

When trying to print getting error Paper Jam in Manual Feeder. There is no Jam...we tap the side of the machine and it prints....any Ideas on what causes this to happen?

There is likely a loose connection going to the manual feed paper sensor.
The printer thinks there's paper in the manual feed, but of course since there isn't any paper there, when it tries to feed the paper in from the manual feed, the next paper sensor is not tripped, so it assumes there is a jam in the manual feed.
Start testing at the manual feed sensor, and work your way back to the board it connects to.
It may be the sensor itself just needs to be cleaned - these sensors are usually optical, and spraying canned air at it will often fix it up.
Also, make sure the lever that trips the sensor isn't sticking after using the manual feed.

Paper feed Ricoh Aficio 1015

Is the copier not feeding? There are many problems that could be causing this.

- The feed roller could be dirty or worn. The feed roller sits on the upper right side of the paper tray -- it's a thick gray roller. Clean this roller with a lint-free rag and some alcohol.

- The paper fences might not be tight. There are two paper fences (one toward you and one on the far side of the paper, away from you). Make sure these fences are tight enough so that the paper does not move around in the tray, but not too tight to keep the paper from being fed out of the tray. Also make sure the green guide on the left side of the paper is snug but not too tight.

- The paper could be damp, curly, or full of static. Damp paper is a big problem, especially in the summer. Try filling the tray with a fresh **** of paper and see if it feeds through better. Also make sure none of the pages in the tray are bent or folded under.

Did any of these suggestions help?

Copier will not feed from paper tray

check he direction of the paper in the tray to see if it maatches that on the display then make sure the paper guide fences in the tray are set correctly and that they are tight on the paper edges and the paper isn tloose in the tray.. as a last check you can take the paper tray out and make sure there is no paper stuck inside and if yoyu get a clean cloth and a little glass cleaner on it you could try and rub eh feed rollers to see if they are dirty as this willl often cause miss feeds.. Good Luck A ,,, let me know if you need more info

Have just installed a new HP Deskjet D4360 Printer. Everything is correct except that the paper-feed is not working and although there is paper in the printer an on-screen notice says 'Out of paper' The...

Sounds like you may have too much paper in there. Try just puting a few sheets in, turn it off and turn it back on and see if it doesn't load. Also check internally on the printer, if this is a new printer that you jsut unpacked there may be tape or something inside the printer (like where the toner goes or in the paper drawer.

Smith Corona 235 DLE doesn't advance

Does the platen move or does the paper not advance? Check the paper release lever to make sure the feed wheels are snapped in place. If the platen does not move something in the paper feed motor area.

Paper does not feed

Try to adjust your margins in the paper feed tray, chances are they are too loose. Do not space your margins too loosely or too tightly, just enough for your paper size to fit. Also check if your paper thickness is setup for boards or thicker paper types.

Paper will not feed

> Epson replaced the printer.

I think that you have been "unlucky" to get a replacement-printer with the same problem as the first printer. Get them to replace it, again.

Check that there is nothing "extra" inserted into the printer to stabilize the moveable parts during "shipping" -- such "padding" must be removed before using the printer.
