Question about Toshiba Satellite 1905-S301 Notebook
I have a Toshiba Satellitle 1905. THe actual memory installed is 1 Gb,System info only shows 486.18. Iis this correct or are my regisrty settings or something else wrong and causing this?
That memory amount does not sound correct - it might be the free memory count. What does it say when you go to CONTROL PANEL -> SYSTEM? If it has a low memory count, try this.
When the machine reboots, press the delete key or F10 key to enter the BIOS and have a look at how much memory the BIOS is reporting. If it seems incorrect, you may have mismatched memory (so only one of two chips is working), or one of the chips may have become unseated in its bay. Turn the machine over and unscrew the memory bay door and reseat the chip(s) if necessary. If you reseat them and the memory reported is still incorrect, you might have faulty memory. Actually, faulty memory chips have become extremely rare.
As a last resort download SISOFT SANDA LITE for free on the web (or from download.com) and then run its memory test tools. Laptop memory is very cheap right now, so you might consider replacing if it has become faulty.
