Question about Olympus VN-2000
I have previously put in a problem with my recorder, what I failed to add is that now it will not play any of my recordings! what could be wrong? I have changed batteries reprogrammed, etc and it still is acting up. When I hit "record" I get a green light and the screen says REC but then I can't stop it. I hit STOP and it is stuck on REC. I have to disconnect a battery to clear it. Then when I go to a folder to listen to what is in it and hit play the "Display" button will turn green then red and stops me from playing. I am really getting frustrated. This unit has not been abused or dropped or even used heavily.
Thank you for your help
Digital voice recorders and mp3 players usually suffer from this problem due to corrupted memory.. i strongly advice you to format your device as that should take care of any troublesome memory blocks... Now tell me onething.. Does this device come with a USB port?(I haven't heard much about this device but i feel its a generic problem with portable voice recorders)

When you press rec the lamp
should glow red this leads me to
believe that there is a problem with
the way the buttons are registering
Did you try resetting everything
1 Hold the STOP button, and hold the ERASE button for 3
seconds or longer.
2 Press the + or – button to select the “YES”.
3 Press the ENTER button.(imediately)
If the warranty period has expired
I would risk opening the case to check
the recording button to see if it can be
repaired cleaned similar to a remote
controls' or replaced.

Hello I think what you want is to over record on a top of the previous dictation, but this recorder does not work that way example: let say that you are counting 12345678910 and you want to correct and add ACBD between 5 6 to listen back 12345ABCD678910. This recorder don't work that way, the only feature that this unit have is add or insert to the end, on the file that you are listen. During playback press REC for more than 1 second the record indicator appears and "ADD" will flash for 3 seconds in the display window the indicator will turn red and the new recording will be added at the end to the current message.
I really recommend if you want to used a Digital Recorder like the old style analog recorder with a slide switch this unit is really easy to operate and all the features that anyone needs, I think the price is not bad, is really a professional digital recorder http://www.tvps.com/Products/Philips-9380-Pocket-Memo-Digital-Recorder---New-LFH-9380__PH-LFH-9380.aspx
