There is tiny plunger that senses when the tape has been write-protected by breaking off the tab at the front of the tape cassette. If this plunger is broken it will assume the tape is write-protected and will not all ow you to erase it. This plunger must be replaced but it is not an easy job.

I have a 720 Transcription System which I can't erase any data off. There is a padlock symbol on the LED display. How do I get rid of it?

There is a tiny switch in the mechanism that detects if the erase prevention tab is broken off the cassette. Try another tape to see if it is the tape, otherwise, that switch is probably broken. The tab is located to the right of the orange colored area on the picture. There is one one each side of the tape.

We have 6 month old Philips LFH9380s where the quality of recording has deteriorated - words are merging together and becoming unintelligble.

Hello if you are using your unit for dictate you probably need to change the mini tape but if you are using your unit for transcribe just clean the head with Alcohol you can purchase mini tapes for your unit at http://www.tvps.com/Departments/Dictation-Accessories/Cassette-Tapes/Mini.aspx

Hello Press the PLAY and REWIND keys at the same time the LCD display shows the fast rewind symbol together with an S to indicate that the tape is being erased backward. The erase function continues until either the beginning of tape is reached or another function is selected. if this does not work Send an email to service@tvps.com or call (800) 644-9525. Please indicate model, serial and detailed description of problem

Erasing recorded tapes

While holding the 'Erase' button down, press the 'Rewind' or "Fast Forward' button. It will erase the tape while it rewinds or fast forwards.
