Nikon f100 metering selector is not working

Hi David,
Are you talking about the dial on the right side of the pentaprism? If so I believe that entire top can be removed then replaced with a new/used. Check with Nikon for the part number then have your fingers do the walking.

Nikon F100 suddenly went dead

Which battery holder are you using? The small one or the grip MB-15? If it is the MB-15 make sure it is screwed in tight. If it is the small one then make sure your batteries are in the correct direction. If that does not work call Nikon Film 1-800-645-6687.

Just inherited a Nikon F100. When the shutter is

Here's the usermanual:

on page 101 (Troubleshooting) it mentions the Err message, and the shutter again to release it - According to the guide its a Refer Nikon Service Centre issue.

From how you describe it, it is consistent with there being a problem with lens compatibility. It would be worth checking compatibility (with the chart on pages 32 - 33) - Although if you inherited it "as a unit" I doubt thats the root cause..

Hope this helps

How to brighten the viewfind on a Nikon F 100

If you think the screen is dirty then you can remove the view finder screen inside the camera from the lens opening. Also, there are other view finder screens that you can purchase. Read page 65 of the F100 manual to see how to change focus screens.

Nikon F100: Multiple exposures, delayed exposures

Thanks for your email. In the meantime I learned my problems were not uncommon with early production F100s; the culprit is the switching circuitry under the film advance mode dial, which has to be replaced. Essex Camera of Carlstadt, NJ, will do the repair, including general service, at a cost of $ 150. Sincerely,

Nikon F100 dead

I do know that on earlier models like the N90s and 8008s, the small nut that holds the battery clip in place activated a cut off switch. If the switch was faulty, the camera would not turn on. There may be a similar switch in the F100.

Serial numbers

Dear GaryAve,
The serial number on the F100 is located underneath the lens mount on the front of the camera.

Custom setting

This is a known (albeit uncommon) issue with F100's.  Is the wheel on the top left set to the timer setting? If not it may need to be repaired.

Aperture priority not working...HELP!!

Hey Mike, This is an easy one. With the battery grip attached, you can only have either Shutter Priority or Aperture Priority work properly. You can change it with the custom function settings of the camera. So you can change it to work with Aperture Priority if you use that more so then shutter priority won't work. Brandon
