It's probably time for a new blade. If you are using a toothless diamond coated blade it can be difficult to see that the diamonds have been rubbed off. It drifts because it cuts more easily on the side of the blade where you have more diamond left. Be sure to use enough water to keep the blade from shedding it's diamonds too soon.

On a truck that old, chances are you have problems with the carb.
What are the issues exactly ?

Check your oil stick you might be too low on oil. That happens to a lot of vehicles the low oil pressure is the cause.

as far as fuel consumption is concerned,go online to a website called "superchips"they are wonderfull.

engine runs smooth if giving more than idle pressure. It is when the motor is engaged with transmission at start the engine lopes and wants to cut off. If I press the throttle hard it takes right off. If I come to a stop I can put transmission in neutral to keep it from cutting off. This creates a shifting that is not normal and I'm afraid it is a sign of failure coming.

Could be dirt in the carb - or the float sticking..

Get aome carm cleaner in airasol can..
Take the air filter off..
Start the eng..
Spray carb cleaner into the carb intake in short controlled bursts and not too much to stall the mortor..
Repete several times..
Also - try a new spark plug, clean the air filter..
