HI, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

If your pet brush roll isn't turning then the main reason would be due to pet hair clogged in the roll. Try manually spinning the roll a few times to help unclog it and uncover any hidden debris. Usually a quick cleaning or a little bit of oil by the bearings will have you up and running in a few minutes. However, once the bristles endure too much wear, which is highly likely when it comes to our pets, they will become loose and no longer operate at its peak performance. Trying using a razor or scissors to clear any noticeable hair or debris that you may see.

SOURCE: brush roll won't turn on

Atthe bottom of the vacuuam are screws to take off...two of them are near the rear wheel assembly....two of them are behind the front mini wheels (just pry the front mini wheels so that they pop out...they pop back in)
Remove all of the screws. Remove the bottom from the top..they come apart in two pieces. Ceck the belt on the bottom piece. Slide the roller out starting from the end opposite from the motor end. With the roller off, slacken the the belt so that it misses the gear on the motor (you will have to hold it with your hand). Plug in the vacuum. Turn the power on to the roller on position. The motor should work and the green light should be on. If the motor doesn't work, then it is defective. If it does work, turn off, unplug and shoot the gear and the two ends of the roller with WD-40. reassemble. good luck.

Why wont the roller brush turn on my navigator shark NV22L

It could be a bad switch or brush roll motor, a broken belt, loose wire or contact. You must inspect and test all these areas to narrow down the cause.

Shark navigator making strange noise. Still have suction, doesn't make noise when beater bar not moving. What could be the problem?

HI, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

If your Shark Navigator vacuum is only making a strange noise when the brush roll is turning then the two things to consider and examine would be the brush roll itself as well as the belt.

First off lets look at the brush roll itself. Right off the bat is there any noticeable debris caught in it? You're mainly looking for long carpet fibers, or even strands of hair? If so try using a scissor to cut the blockage away. Then, manually rotate the brush roll to uncover further clogs. When examining your brush roll take note of the condition of the bristles. Are they loose? If so this would be a good time to change your brush roll entirely. There should be two screws holding the plate onto your Shark Navigator. Use a screw driver to remove these screws to gain access to the brush roll and belt.

The second part to check would be your Shark Navigator's belt. With use the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roll. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. So if your belt feels loose as well replace that. A general rule would be that you're going to want to replace your belt about every 6 months. And if your belt is really loose this could be causing a noise when your brush roll is active.

Shark navigator uv400 - the brush won't move. cleaned out hair, but still doesn't move even when it is off and I try to rotate it manually

Sorry but Shark products fail after a very short life typically and there are no parts for them. They are disposable. Do yourself a favor and don't waste money on another one.

Brush roller won.t turn. It turns for a sec. then shuts off. I have cleaned all clogs. This is a shark navigator. Can I remove bottom of vac to access the roller? The manual doesn,t mention this as a...

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance of your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first let's focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they lose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuum's belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.
