Problem with Motherboard

I have a problem with my Toshiba laptop. When I attempt to turn it on, nothing happens. All that happens is that the noise that usually is heard when I boot up my laptop is emitted. Sometimes the screen turns on and the Toshiba logo comes up but then it either turns black or is filled with weird lines. I took it to a repair place that specializes in Toshiba laptops and they said it had something to do with my motherboard. The label on the bottom says: Toshiba SPM30 Model No. PSM35E-002EE-AR. They couldnt find this piece so if you guys know how I could get it, that would be really helpful.

Thanks

I have recently changed my hard drive ( 2 months ago), could the new hard drive be useless already? Also, i tried to turn the laptop on recently and i managed to log in and even look at my files before the screen went black again. The screen was still on but it was black.

I had the same problem. I took it to my nearest toshiba repair center, turned out the hard disk was defective/corrupt, the tech repair guy replaced it and it worked inmediately. Good Luck.

My Toshiba laptop wont POST

Sounds to me like a fault on the Primary Circuit Board. to test if it's the motherboard, try unplugging the laptop, turning it upside down, removing the battery, taking the RAM out of the pc and starting the laptop without and RAM inside it. if you dont hear the motherboard beeping it's not a good sign :(

When turning on the computer the first screen comes up stating Toshiba and at the bottem it says push f2 for set up or f12 for boot device selection menu but when you push a button nothing happens.

Why do you press these buttons in the first place? Did you have problems with the stability of your system so you want a different boot option?
If your laptop was experienicing random freezeups and you couldnt get it to boot at all, and nothing you do can get you past the Toshiba startup screen then your laptop may have a bad motherboard. Actually, it's more of a loose contact between the FSB controller chip and the motherboard. Take a look at this laptop motherboard repair tutorial for bad FSB chip contact, see if that may be of any help.

My old laptop toshiba m35x-s161 won't turn on the light on the power botton turns on and it makes some noise but nothing more happens

Sounds like there is a faulty connection between the power switch and the computer. Probably why its making a little noise.
Take in for repair and replace power button.

Oh dear that's the worst thing that can happen during a bios update. the bios chip is probably now useless rendering the laptop useless. You will need a new motherboard I am afraid to say.

Toshiba satellite m35x-s114 boots to the toshiba screen then doesn't do anything else. Even with the f2 or f12 option nothing happens. I hear the fan (I think it is the fan) then no sound at all. I have to...

Try getting to the bios screen, if you can get to the bios screen then I would imagine the hard drive has failed. If it is hanging up at the toshiba splash screen and not allowing BIOS access, then I would lean toward a motherboard failure. Are you attempting a boot from the windows disc?, is that why you are trying F12? I have seen my share of these Toshiba M35's just give the Toshiba splash screen when there has been a motherboard issue. Changing out the main board will fix this particular problem. I had not found another solution for it.

You can try reseating the memory and the hard drive if you can get to it, but it sure sounds as though the motherboard is shot.
You can take it to your local computer repair shop.
Good Luck.
