Vertical jitters on picture - JVC AV48P776

I have a JVC AV48P776/777 TV that started showing green vertical lines with a line flashing continously across the screen. Turned the TV off. When powered on again, the TV now has vertical jitters on the picture. Any suggestions?

What you are experiancing is loss of High voltage. The line is called a retrace line. It is usally caused by failure of the flyback circuit or aging of the TV tube. This is the single most common failure with CRT based display systems. The high voltage can be tweaked up, to accomidate for the age of the tube. Its a short term solution. Because of the high voltage nature of this circuit, suggest a professional repair.

Advice, call your local tv service shop and inquire. If you have resources to deliver the TV to the shop it will be cheaper that a service call.

I would expect this to fall into the one hour minimum service fee.

But you can call and explain that your seeing retrace lines in your tv and they should be capable of estimating the repair for tweaking the high voltage. There is an outside chance that the TV is aged to the point where it will not improve with all the high voltage available.

    It's a judgement call.

Horizontal line

hi,
ur tv has problem with vertical scanning section. may be dry soldering or vertical output ic faulty.
u can easily find out the vertical section on ur tv. for that u have to open ur tv. u can see a coil is fitted on the picture tube neck. there are four lines coming from the neck, of which two will go to horizontal scanning section and the remaining two will go to vertical section. follow the two thin wire normally in color green and yellow. it will go to a socket in the main board. trace the track from that socket in the main board . it will lead u to the vertical scanning section. check for any dry soldering in that section. mainly the soldering of vertical ic. if see or not re-solder the leads of the vertical ic . then check is the tv is ok or not. if complaint remains replace the vertical scanning out pout ic. it will be fitted on a aluminum heat sink in the vertical section. if u need more assistance feel free to contact through fixya.

JVC AV-27730: horizontal bright line across screen in the

it could be an electrolytic capacitor or the vertical output I.C. in the vertical circuitry,if you remove the rear cover tap on the board in different places and see if the picture fills out or atleast jitters like it might fill out, then it could be just a cold solder joint, then remove the main board and resolder all joints and this should repair the condition you have

TV: bright line across black screen for several hours.

vertical output ic needs to be resoldered. careful leaving that bright line displayed on the screen as this will cause a permanent phosphor burn into the tube. this can not be corrected once burned unless you replace the tube. mch

One thing you should not do with electronic devices which have a start up proceedure is to turn the power off, and then on again without a wait of about five minutes. Some equipment manuals warn you about this, and specify a longer period. The start-up has to have time to reset. It will be more likely to reset if you do not leave it on standby, and even unplug it. In your TVs case you need to describe the distorted picture as it may give a clue to a fault, or incorrect start-up. The horizontal line indicates the frame timebase had stopped working. No picture could be a fuse blown inside the set, or a timed cutout which may reset after a time. Try after several hours to see if it comes on. If it is just the frame timebase (vertical) it is worth repairing.
