Question about GE DBSR453EBWW Electric Dryer

GE Dryer Shuts Off after 10-20 minutes...

My GE Dryer will start and heat up, but shuts off after 10-20 minutes.

The dryer cannot be restarted for a few minutes and is very hot.

We started having this problem a few years ago, however, once I opened it and found the dryer door felt tangled up. I replaced it and didn't have the problem again....until now.

I replaced the felt (for a second time), but now it didn't help.

The vents are clear, the drum is moving, but the drier is hot to the touch.

Is this a thermostat problem? Suggestions?

SOURCE: squeaky dryer drum...felt thing came off how to replace it?

Squeaking is cause by the drum bearing worn out and telling the tale. As it get thinner and thinner it begins to rub against the metal outer casing it is embellished in. To inspect it you must rmove tyhe front and get the drum out. Start by opening the the door and removing the screws holding down the top. Then raise the top and get the screws out thathold the front on. Use the rear acces panel(if applicable) to get the idler loose or access that idler from the front.e24a4b7.jpg

What causes my dryer to stop after 20 minutes?

Sounds like a possible motor over heating. The main motor has a heat safety built in that shuts it off if it gets too hot. It will restart once it cools off some. Over heating could be from excessive lint around the motor or even from a blocked vent pipe. All you can do is clean it well and check again. If it still shuts off the motor will need replaced.

My dryer starts, runs a few minutes, doesn't heat up and shuts itself off

check your sensors on the heater unit, there are two or more, simply us a meter and make sure power is on both sides of the sensor, if not then that specific sensor is bad and you should replace it, pull the sensor and tie the two wire together to see if it will heat, if it does replace the sensor they are cheap and will keep you from burning down the house

Dryer shuts off after 15 minutes and needs to cool down then will start again and the cylec continues!!On, off,on, off.

The problem is more likely a high temp limit switch. I don't have a schematic of your dryer, but one should be included somewhere on the dryer. You have to use a voltmeter to test the components in the circuit. The thermostat controls the heat temp, you may want to start there

Heat shuts off after a few minutes

Check Replace Thermostat. The Dryer Thinks Its Not Lighting Because The Thermostat Isn't Working.

The Dryer Has A Safety Mechanism So It Wont Flood Your Home With Gas. When The Thermostat Is Broken The Unit Doesn't Detect The Heat And Shuts Off The Gas.
