Any activity on the hard drive LED? If there is, hook up an external monitor and see if you can get a picture that way.

If you don't have any activity from the hard drive light LED and the screen stays dark then try unseating and reseating the memory one stick at a time in each slot one at a time and turn on the laptop after each stick reinsertion.

If after that you stilll don't have video the motherboard is bad. Also you may want to try a good known stick of memory in each of the slots to make sure your existing memory sticks are good.

Try connecting an external monitor and check if it has the same issue. If it does, then replace the LCD.

My Lenovo Thinkpad T60 Won't load pass thinkpad Logo. I can't access Bios and ThinkVantage button is useless PLEASE HELP!

A burning smell is a good indication that some component burnt up. Could be a fan and that would cause it to shut down. If it's hung on the logo I would start by removing the memory, hard drive and optical drive and see if it boots past the logo. If it does then power down and add one item back in and test again until you find the bad part. Can you hear the fan spinning when you power it on?

Lenovo ThinkPad T60 goes to blank screen at random intervals.

Hello you just have to upgrade the driver for the graphic card.

You can also use windows update

Visit lenovo here:

Or use the autodetect function

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-62928

If it not helps with the driver your display has a defect
its not a easy task to change the display.
The local computer repair shop should be able to help you with that.

Good luck

My T60 Lenovo turns to black screen after a couple of seconds. What will I do is standby the system to restore the screen but the error will occur again after a couple of seconds. This usually happen when...

Boot up in safe mode (press F8 0on startup) on your normal login name. Once in safe mode disable the screensaver, then go to power options and disable them so that there are no powersaving features enabled.. Then restart into normal windows, and hopefully everything will be fine.

My lenovo t60 screen goes black 15 seconds after

Hi, try to boot into safemode, turn your system on then keep on tapping F8 to get the windows advance Menu screen, select safemode.

In the safemode windows go to Control panel and check your power options, you will see what time frame your system has for the LCD when turning off.

If this does not fix the issue, try booting into safemode with networking for you to be able to go online in safemode try updating your BIOS from your Manufacturers Website, Updating your bios may fix the issue.

When the Thinkpad locks up and you can't shutdown the normal way, just press the power button and hold it down until it switches off. If that doesn't work just remove the battery.
