My guess is something is lodged in there causing the sound or perhaps the belt is dry and cracked and needs replacement.

SOURCE: aircon works fine for 5 min after starting car

Check the compressor when you notice the smell. See if its running or not. It could also be the blower motor itself. I'd suggest checking the blower motor first off. Those usually only last a few years, and if it got wet some how it could have rusted or corroded on the inside. Or a wire broke on the inside and it shorts out to ground which could explain the smell.

SOURCE: vw passat will not run

*Assuming everything ran fine prior to running out of petrol*, the most likely cause is air in your fuel lines or fuel injectors.

For a Volkswagen, the most sure fix is to have a Volkswagen mechanic inspect and maybe clean and prime your injectors. If you are handy enough, you could possibly do this yourself, but it can be quite hard.

Also, there are some additives that claim to be able to fix this in a bottle, but there efficacy is marginal at best.

Last, this problem can sometimes work itself out, though the process of waiting for the bubbles to clear (you may have to endure many quits by your engine) can be more than frustrating.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: engine starts and stops ticking

Sounds like oil pressure problems to me. Check to make sure your oil level is correct. If the oil level is OK get the engine checked by a professional.

There is a thermal sensor in the motor which shuts power off if it gets too hot but usually it won't turn back on until it cools down. It seems you might have a defective switch

Hi My Hoover wind tunnel cyclonic stopped working when i was using it. I tried different plug even then it doesnt work . What to do??

If the motor stopped running, it most likely did because it was not being cooled, becuause something was stopping up the air flow. If you have cleaned the secondary filter out and it still stops while running, then remove the exhaust filter cartridge and try it then. If it does not stop running now, then the problem is the previous models like this had a foam filter as the exhaust filter, not a heppa cartridge filter. You will not hurt the machine by running it without the heppa cartridge. Cut a foam filter to fit to replace it. I do not think Hoover knows this yet.

I have a customer working on this problem today (Sept 2010) I have repaired machines for 30 years. This filter is meant to just catch the tiny particles from getting back into the air. However, it worked fine on the previous machines with the foam filter here instead of this Heppa cartridge.

Brushes will not spin while locked in machine..

I have the same problem and think I know the solution.
The plastic pegs on the housing unit for the brushes have been stripped out. The pegs are supposed to be squared tip to click into the square hole of the machine. If the pegs aren't the same shape as the hole, the machine can't grab them to spin the brushes.
The tallest peg on mine somehow got stripped to a rounded shape. I tried wrapping tape, plastic, etc around the peg to make it fit in the hole snug, but it only worked for a few seconds and broke again. I am going to have to replace the brush set. You can order parts from Hoover but I haven't priced them yet.
I hope this helps you. Certainly is cheaper than replacing a motor or machine.

Hoover Vacuum works, then stops in 3-5 mins. Works again in a couple of hours

sounds like the motor is overheating .check and see if the brush roller is turning when its on.if its hard to turn or won't turn at all take it back where you bought it and insist on a new one.my thoughts on new items is if you buy something new then it shouldn't have to be fixed.insist on it.please leave feedback...pete

Hi there, I’ve got a upright Hoover and it cuts out after about 5 mins I think it’s over heated but if i leave it for 5 mins it works again but cuts of again how can i fix it?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It is possible that you my have a heat sensor, but as far as what you described you need to change both belts, the brushroll belt and the power drive belt as well and @ the same time. The average belt change is every 4 to 6 months on the vacuum. Does it stop completely or is it just the belt problem. Or #2 is the vacuum giving off a burning smell other than the belts and if it does it could be the motor. Other wise , please call the factory or a local Hoover warranty station in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hoover mach 5 only used 3 times

If the filters are ok, and there is no clog in the hose or dirt inlet down by the brushroll, then the motor protector is probably bad.
