Sony VAIO VGC-RB50 No Power

I recently moved to a new home. I had my computer working in my previous home, but when i disconnected and reconnected all cables in the new home, no power comes to the tower. There is a flashing green light on the back where the power cable is. I've tried the following to fix the problem:
1) used a different power cable (the one from my monitor)
2) Plugged cable directly into wall as well as through a surge.
3) Held power button for more than 5 seconds
4) Plugged power cable in to multiple outlets
None of these worked unfortunatley. What can i do to fix this problem???

Re: Sony VAIO VGC-RB50 No Power

Most likely you have a problem with your power supply. First off make sure your Input voltage selector switch is properly set. This switch should be located next to the power cord. In most cases it is red in color, and will have "115V" and "230V" printed on the switch. I have seen red switches and black switches, but mostly red. I you live in the US, you should see "115V", Europe is "230V". Before flipping the switch, unplug power cord.

Since the light is blinking, you are getting power to the power supply. The power supply might be bad, and you need a new one.

How to update drivers for xp

Official support has gone by the wayside for Windows XP. If you have a working internet connection on the computer you should be able to update most things with Windows Update. If you are having trouble getting a specific driver you can download it directly from the link below.

If you are having trouble getting an internet connection on the machine, consider downloading the "Network Drivers" and move them to the computer using a USB Flash Drive.

not easily. the card is soldered onto the board. if it is malfunctioning you can reflow the board yourself or get a professional to do it. if you strip the board, it should be around $100-150 for the reflow.

Having trouble with a sony vaio vgc-rb50 pci driver. I looked at the solutions below, but whenever I run the setup it says its installed, however the prompts in device manager remain the same..

From with in device manager right click on the driver and click uninstall and then without reboot try to install new one. make sure it is compatible with the OS ie. 64bit vs 32 bit. If it is vista 64bit good luck. :-)

VGC-RB50 Display Problem

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think that the MB or the processor just took a dive on you. Most likely the processor... as you are able to power up. If it were the memory or the video card, you would hear a series of beeps when trying to start the computer. And you already verified the monitor is fine.
