I have a problem with my laptop. Every time I start my laptop with the battery on, I keep getting this internal battery 601 before my laptop starts. I got three questions I want to ask. 1) How do I get rid of the alert scream battery alert 601? Could you give me step by step. 2)What is the cause of battery alert 601? 3) If I make my computer brand new, meaning rebooting my computer and also losing my files, would that get rid of the alert message? Reply ASAP

There is a backup battery underneath the main battery and the age of the T23s means these need to be replaced (after 6 - 7 years!). You can pick one up on eBay for $10 or less w/shipping and you will need the exact part as they use a propietary connector. If you do the replacement yourself have patience, IBM made the plug very difficult to line up - but it will eventually. If you try to force it you can breack the motherboard connector off and require a costly tech repair.

There are two options you can try:
First boot up and hit F8 to put it in Safe Mode. Then go into your Control Panel>Add/Remove programs and uninstall Service Pack 1. Reboot and see if that works. If not try this:
Boot up into Safe Mode again by hitting F8 when it starts up. Click on Start>Programs>Accessories>System>System Restore (It may be a little diff but that is close). Click on System Restore and walk thru the Wizard, this will restore your computer to an earlier date before you installed Service Pack 1. Good Luck.

I am running XP. I went to RUN - MSCONFIG, then go to START tab. You will find an entry for this DLL. Uncheck to box, choose APPLY, and restart your PC, the nagging pop up on restart should be gone.

This is the bios battery which back up the clock and settings and it is normally found on the main motherboard accessable from the rear of the laptop from the memory card opening.
so remove and fix the 3 volt battery into the slot.
