Enter www.google.com in your address bar and press Enter. Once the Google home page comes up go to 'internet options'. Under home page, select 'use current' and apply. That should do it for you. Mike

SOURCE: can't open google or yahoo search pages, i keep

Sounds like adware or spyware (any kind of badware in your computer) is the issue. Perhaps a simple problem on the browser configuration is the issue.
You may try to download Firefox to see is you have the same problem. Have your computer updated (from the Microsoft Updates) and run the Malicious removal Tool (Click Start - Run - Type: MRT and press enter).

Good luck.

Home page google

If you tell us what browser you are using we may be able to tell you how to make Google or any page your home page.
Let us take Firefox.
Open your Firefox browser
In the Search bar at the top on the right, type in Google and click the search button (the icon of a magnifying glass)

Here is what you might see. In this case the first link is to google.ca (where the search originated)

Click the first link to see something like this

fba0ea2f-ad97-4f0a-b666-3ce56693bec9.png
This is the actual (current page). If this what you want as your home page, do not enter any search keyword and let the page remain the current one.
Now look at the menu bar at the top of the Firefox window for the TOOLS menu. Click Tools, ad locate submenu OPTIONS

02dfa278-498b-48e3-a194-39b7cf19a33f.png

Click the OPTIONS submenu. A tabbed window opens. Click the GENERAL tab. This is what you see.

0ec8e2fc-b793-4b3d-9212-47d06cead6d7.png

You see the three buttons Use Current Page, Use Bookmark..., Restore Default.
Now since the Google page is your current page (in the browser) click the button Use Current page and click the OK button at the bottom.
The Use Bookmark... gives you an alternative to selecting the Home Page. You could bookmark a specific page that you discovered while browsing and use it at a home page.
If anything goes wrong, you can still restore the default home page, probably chosen by the manufacturer.

In firefox, my default search engine was google, but now when I click on home or try to search, in the new tab, searches are done by icq search instead of google search

My Solution :
- Open Firefox
- At Menu Bar go to Tools
- At first look if in the first box is "Show my home page" (If it is not , select it )
- Now in the next box write : Google.com
