Question about Intel D845EPI (INTELKD845EPILPAK10) Motherboard

1 Answer

No boot but with power and fan moving

My motherboard is Intel D845GVSR.
At first it is ok, then I bring to a technician to increase memory.
When I get back my computer, it can boot but cannot detect hard disk. When restart several times, it can detect hard disk and the next day, it cannot again. So I change bios setup and when I restart the computer, bios cannot boot at all but the fan is running and CD drive can be opened.
The technician told me that the motherboard has damaged. Is that true? But why it damaged only after I change the bios setting?

I have followed the instruction on the motherboard manual on troubleshooting 'no boot' but no help.
I feel so sad. Before sending for upgrading memory, it is ok but now it cannot be used at all. Please help. Thank you very much for your help.

When your bios setting is wrong, you just have to set it to default by unplug it and then plug it again..and done, your bios is set to default
have you try change your data cable?it maybe damage
or could posibly your harddrive is damaged, you can try a simple experiment, try it to another computer, or try the motherboard with another harddrive....if its OK, then you have no problem with your harddrive......and perhaps your motherboard are damaged...

FAN OK BUT NO DISPLAY

I like that. Kinda' rhymes. "Fan OK but no Display"

Problem is your Processor isn't turned on.

You have a bad Power Supply.
> Weak voltage power rail.

You probably have a 200 to 300 Watt power supply. (SMPS)

1) ALL of the LED lights together use less than 1 Watt of power.

2) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts.

3) A typical Processor can use 51 to 125 watts. Depends on what Processor it is.

The Intel D845GVSR motherboard uses a Socket 478 processor socket.
Supports Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium 4, and Intel Celeron D, that utilize a Socket 478 processor socket, and have a maximum FSB of 533MHz.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_Chipsets

Utilizes the Intel 845GV motherboard chipset.
[ Intel 82845GV Northbridge chip, and Intel ICH4 Southbridge chip ]

89 Watts is the maximum wattage, that can be used by a Processor for the Intel D845GVSR motherboard.

Power Supply has enough power to light LED lights, and spins fans, but not enough to turn the Processor on.
No Processor operating, No computer.
No computer, No video signal to the monitor.
(No Signal)

Do you have access to a KNOWN to be good, compatible Power Supply, for a test unit?

I have a D845GRG with 2 512mb installed can i have a 1gb mem mixed with a 512mb if i can where to place slot 1 or 2? So I increase my memory to almost 1.6 gb,from the 1028mb I now have..Thanks for any...

Motherboards that have only two memory slots do not require the memory to be matched DIMMs. You can mix and match whatever sixe you have and it does not matter what slot they go in.

Hi,

Think this should be an issue with the power button, Remove the wires running from the power button to MB and try starting the system with shorting the 2 lead of the power button..

Mostly, it can be due to bad power supply or Ram
