Re: battery drain

Sounds like either the battery is bad or a diode is blown in the alternator. Could be the voltage regulator, but not likely.
Other than that, there is something connected to the electrical system that is draining the battery.

Bad or loose battery cable(s). Tighten the connectors on all ends, and go hand-over-hand to inspect them for fault or damage.

Just enough juice to make the radio work but not enough to turn it over, right?

Try this test: Turn the headlights on, then try to start it. If the headlights (or interior lights) dim down or go out, then if it ain't the battery, it surely is one of the vables or connectors.

Where do I fill gearoil on a ford escort diesei 1995?

If the oil is for the differential , there should be a 1/2 inch pipe plug with either a square head or a squaresocket indentation on either the back or the side of the main case. simply remove it and pour oil in as needed. most manufacturerers specify that the level should be about 1/2 inch below the lip of the filler hole. the same instructions apply to standard transmissions but the filler plug can be a little difficult to find.

Interchange manuals

I'll try looking a little more, but the best I can suggest so far is to also check for an interchange manual with the Mercury Tracer, not just the Ford Escort, since the two are basically the same car.

I also suggest joining a Ford Enthusiast site, such as the one below. You can often find valuable information through other members willing to share their knowledge.

Cannot get keychain to turn on when dissconnected from computer

Sounds like your battery is dead.
1. Please note that when charging from your USB cable to the computer, full charging time will take up to 7 hours. If you are charging using your own DC car charger or AC wall adaptor,
charging time will be much less and will take up to 3 hours.

2. Indicator light will turn green when charging is complete.

Dachport problem {electronics shot}

Electrical problems are very difficult to solve on a car without the electrical diagram and the correct test equipment. It sounds like you have an "electrical short" which if not repaired correctly will result in having a "fire" and no car at all. I strongly suggest you take your car to a Ford Dealer and have them solve your problem.
