Audio problem. my phone rings when i receive calls but can't hear the voice of the caller.

    i actually lost my headset and not using one for over a year. any alternative solution please?

Check if the volume has been set to low if not then add a head set to check if you can the hear the other party's voice

if yes then you may have to replace your ear piece in the phone

I had the same problem a while back. What I did was test the speakers using the phone's own system check menu. You can access this menu by doing the following:

Wheel up, *, Wheel down, Wheel down, * Wheel down

If you have successfully done this, the service menu will appear. But be careful not to change anything on the setting that you do not understand. Just try the system check/test. If the speaker test proved the the speakers are working, then, instantly, your phone's speakers will work on your next call.

normally if the caller cannot hear the receiver theres some problem with the mouthpiece. if the headset and loudspeaker works then you have to go to the store and have it fixed.

Welcome to Fixya. It seems to be the the problem of your phone is the ear piece. The ear piece is different from the speaker of your phone and that's the reason why you can hear the caller on loud speaker. If sometimes you can still hear the caller then the earpiece is still working but need to be replaced. You can check the warranty of your phone and have the earpiece replaced.

When a call comes in and I transfer to my boss' extension, incoming calls do not come through, caller states phone keeps on ringing. Also on that same extension calls do not transfer to voice mail.


  • Begin the transfer. With the caller on the line, press the "Transfer" key. The caller will automatically be placed on hold and you will hear a dial tone.
  • Connect the caller to the other party. Dial the extension of the party you wish to reach. When you hear the extension ring or after you've announced the caller, complete the transfer by pressing "Transfer" a second time. Activating Personal Ring
You can assign special ringer tones to anyone in your phonebook. When your phone gets a call, it looks up the Caller ID information in your phonebook. If you've assigned a personal ringer to that number, the phone uses it so you know who is calling. To turn the personal ringing on or off, follow these steps:
  1. Press [Menu/Select]. Select the HANDSET SETUP menu, and then the PERSONAL RING submenu.
  2. Move the cursor to select ON or OFF.
  3. Press [Menu/Select]. You will hear a confirmation tone.
Selecting a Ring Tone (Handset only)
You may choose from four melodies or three tones for your phone's primary ring tone. Each handset can use a different ring tone or melody. The available ring tones are as listed:
  1. Press [Menu/Select]. Select the HANDSET SETUP menu, and then the RINGER TONES submenu.
  2. Move the cursor to select a ring tone. As each ring tone is highlighted, you will hear a sample.
  3. When you hear the tone you want to use, press [Menu/Select]. You will hear a confirmation tone.
Adjusting the Speaker Volume
Handset Speakerphone: You can choose from six volume levels for the handset speakerphone. To adjust the speaker volume while on a speakerphone call, press the UP Arrow button (to make it louder) or the Down Arrow button (to make it softer).
Base Speaker: You can choose from ten volume levels for the base speaker. To adjust the speaker volume while call screening or playing messages, press [volume +] (to make it louder) or [volume -] (to make it softer).

Adjusting the Audio Tone
If you aren't satisfied with the audio quality of your phone, you can adjust the Audio Tone of the earpiece while on a call. Your phone gives you three audio tone options: low, natural and high; the default setting, Natural Tone, is recommended for hearing aid users. Audio tone adjustments only apply to the earpiece, not the speakerphone.
To adjust the audio tone:
  1. While on a call, press [Menu/Select].
  2. Move the cursor to select AUDIO TONE, and then press [Menu/Select].
  3. Move the cursor to select desired option (HIGH TONE, NATURAL TONE, or LOW TONE), and then press [Menu/Select]. Selected option appears in the display for two seconds, and then the display returns to normal.
Deleting Phonebook Entries
You can delete a single phonebook entry at a time or all phonebook entries at once:
To delete a single phonebook entry:
  1. When the phone is in standby, press the phonebook key.
  2. Find the entry that you want to delete and press [Menu/Select].
  3. Select DELETE. DELETE ENTRY? appears in the display.
  4. Move the cursor to select YES.
  5. Press [Menu/Select]. You will hear a confirmation tone, and DELETED! appears in the display.
Deleting Caller ID Numbers
  1. To delete only one Caller ID number, press the Caller ID button when the phone is in standby, and then find the number you want to delete.
  2. Press [Menu/Select] and select DELETE ENTRY.
  3. When the phone asks you to confirm, select YES.

Resetting the Voice Message Waiting Indicator
  1. When you receive a new voice mail message, the new message LED on the top of the handset flashes and VM appears in the handset display.
  2. In the event your message alert tone gets out of sync with your phone company's voice messaging system, you can reset back to its original "no messages waiting" state.
  3. To reset, press and hold [find hs] on the base for five seconds.
  4. A beep sounds and the message alert tone is reset.

When the phone rings and the person answering the call can hear the caller the problem is: the caller cannot hear the voice of the person that answered the phone.


you can try to use a headset and see if it will work
normally if the caller cannot hear the receiver theres some problem with the mouthpiece. if the headset and loudspeaker works then you have to go to the store and have it fixed.

Caller can not hear me on receive call,


Sounds like 1 of 2 things
1. You have your phone muted :)
2. Your microphone does not work

A simple way to test your mircophone part would be to, if it has one, if your phone has a voice memo or voice recording feature use that and try and record your voice if it doesnt work, replace the phone if it does we're one step closer to figuring it out.

I'd start with that

Also check your manual for a phone reset feature and try that as well

Can't hear the Ring


Hello, Push the center button(in the middle of the four directional arrows). Scroll over to the screwdriver/wrench icon and select it. Scroll down to the "Audio" line and select it. Scroll down to "Loud Detail" and select it. Set "Ring Volume" to a higher number(I use 7). Have someone call you and you should be set. If this doesn't work, with the phone open, look at the two buttons on the left side of the phone, push the top button until you have your desired ring volume. Good luck!

Voice sound has gone on phone (but ringtones and all other sound working).


there is problem inside ur phone. the speaker which gives sound to listen in caller's voice that has spoiled. take it to technician it need to be replaced
