Had same problem but solution was different. Start button looked slightly misaligned and wouldn't always work. Followed instructions to pull off front control panel, removed LED display panel and the plastic tab that the start button was attached to had broken off from the panel. Used a good epoxy to glue the edges back together and it works like new. Also broke two tabs that hold the LED panel inside the front plate due to the plastic becoming brittle. Again, epoxy is your friend. Works like new.
The button actually fits through the panel to the control board. It could be the control board that is just loose. IF the control board is broken they are about 250 dollars.
I know exactly what you are talking about. My 6 month old WPW9151 has the same problem. I just tore into it yesterday and found the problem is in the plastic button. If you push too hard the button pops loos for the power and the start buttons. I am hoping it just wasn't snapped in properly at the factory. You can take the consoile off with 2 screws; one small to medium torx inside the detergent cup area and one (philips head) under the middle of the console inside the top of the door opening. Then the console snaps on at the take pry off gently from left to right. The right side snaps in but will pry off easily once everythign else is loose. The top needs to come off just to undo the wire harness. Then you can take it to a table to work on the console. About 10 very small torx hold the electronic control to the console. The front knob need to be gently pryed off. Once you get the control off you will see how cheap this is made and that the buttons are also their own one piece plastic spring and they snap in and have a long( 1-2 inches) plastic extension that pushes the electronic button. Mine were not snapped in properly and the extension was bent. Be careful with those expesicailly when aligning to put back togther. I see no $2.00 replacements buttons only the whole $250 console. Snap the buttons in place and reverse the procedure to put back together. Good luck and let me know if you find a replacement button. ps After I put it back together it worked but then my daughter push the power to hard and it was out of place again. I was able to pry it back in place though with only taking the two screws out and leaving the wiring hooked up.
