I have an HP Ipaq 4155 and after a major battery drain I thought the battery was dead. I orderd a replacement battery, installed it, and charged it for the required amount of time turned it on and instantly got the "battery low" message. I charged it again and received the same error. I found my old cradle and took the battery out and charged just the battery and it charged fully. Installed the battery in the ipaq and still received the "battery low" message even though I know that the battery is indeed charged.
So, to summarize, here is the issue:
My Ipaq is not recognizing its battery at all and "thinks" it is always on system battery. My ipaq also may not be charging batteries but I can't say for certain because it doesn't see the battery.
Things I have tried without success of resolving the issue:
Manually charging just the battery in a cradle.
Resetting the Ipaq.
Reinstalling the latest bios.
-   The very same battery not recognized by the iPAQ (4155) or indeed shown dead, works perfectly with another iPAQ I used, rx1955. The problem then seems to be hardware related rather than battery-related.
The instruction manual that came with your iPAQ has the solution to the problem, so just look for it (btw, I lost mine.)-   GeekMAZ

-   Exact same problem...battery indicated it was low so I stuck it back in the charger but even after 36 hours it was not charged. I had a spare battery so I put it in the cradle, and now it is totally drained and will not charge either. The unit works perfectly fine otherwise, but I'm now down to 10% battery and 60% on backup battery (1/2 hour ago it was at 83%). I've searched the net for the last three days with no resolutions/suggestions!!! Help!-   NotJoMama
Try taking out battery and plug in power. If it works, battery is faulty. If not, Try taking out your hard disk plug in power, if it works, hard disk is faulty. If not, Try taking out memory card, if there's a sound, memory card faulty. If no sound, it's your motherboard that is causing the error.
Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

My 2215 had a SanDisk SD memory. I tried removing it and doing the hard reset, still no luck. Is there somebody who fixes these? I have the Symbol Wireless Card and Igo bluetooth keyboard and don't want to send my 2215 to the trash heap. On the charger it shows no orange flashing charge light and it does not show up in the sync software. Thanks for any help you can offer.

The computer works fine on AC but won't stay on for more than a minute with just battery. You have to turn it on each time but it starts at the place it left off. So you can continue your work but have to push the start button to keep going.
