You can check that how much time you spent with the SMPS if it is more then 2-3 years then change it because it is damaged in 2-3 years and after changing then also not work then you go to mechanic and checked your motherboar

do this test this will tell you if your power supply is good or bad we will do the process of elimination ok.
How do I test if the power supply is bad?
Warning This test is for those with extensive electronics training. Do not try this if you do not have extensive electronics training. Make sure there is enough load connected to the power supply before testing ( at least motherboard and one hard drive)!

ATX power connector layout isshown above. 5VSB constantly provides 5V power to the connector through pin 9. If you have a voltmeter, while the power supply fan does not turn on, you could identify which pin is pin 9. Normally there is a clip on the connector between pin 15 and 16. If one can identify pin 14 (the only green wire goes to pin 14), this is the power-on pin. Onee can use a piece of wire to short pin 14 and 15 (or any other black wired ground pin). If you power supply has power connected to it and power switch on the power supply is on, the fan should be turning by now. Otherwise, your power supply may have problem.

My computer will not power up?

Check the SMPS fan working. Check the mains cord. Then open the PC. Short green wire with black wire by using paper clip while keeping the mains ON. The SMPS fan should rotate. If not, replace the SMPS. Also check the CPU fan.

Sir i am using asus motherboard(ASUS M2N68-AM SE2) in my pc, when i switch on my pc the processor fan and smps fan is rotating for few seconds(4 to 6 Seconds) and it stopped rotating. 1. the monitor shows...

remove all the ram from motherboard and switch on the system and see it is working or not like just on and fan are rotating and the smps fan is also working and your system is giving beep sound for ram.try with other smps also some time problem with power supply also. Remove the connector of power switch and restart switch and directly try to on from shorting the connector with the help of pen or screw driver point. Some time faulty switch also give problem. Just try all these possibilities.

Hope this helps. Please rate my response.
Thanks.
Have a good day.

No power coming on intel desktop motherboard d845

Check the power supply to the motherboard i.e the SMPS, if it is working the fan of the SMPS will rotate. If the SMPS is ATX you can check it without connecting it to the motherboard. Unplug all the SMPS power connectors from the motherboard and then short circuit the green and the black wire of the 20pin connector of the smps, if the SMPS is working the fan of the SMPS will rotate. If the SMPS is in good condition and working, than it might be a problem in the internal circuit of the motherboard.

Pc not switching on even after changing smps. even fan not switching on in smps

Dear,
You can test you smps simply by shorting any of the back wire and green wire. this will switch on your smps withour connecting with mother board. IF it the fan rotate, SMPS is ok.
If you need more trouble shooting on SMPS you have to measure the volate on each wire after powering on.

Switched it off last night. this morning no power. won't switch on. not lead have tested. thanks

Verify whether the SMPS fan is working or not, working of this fan indicates that power output +12V is OK, if not you need to check the SMPS, probable reason SMPS fuse blown.
If you observe SMPS fan rotates for few seconds and then stops, this indicates minor repair is required, let me know the symptoms.

ATX Bestec 1956F Power Supply Failure

sounds like your power supplie has not been switched on by *********** board.the fan will not turn on until power supplie is turned on by mb.as far as what is wrong there are several things i can think of.i would try resetting bios. It sounds like your power supplie is working and your motherboard could have a short.but i have no way to be sure without testing. I can however tell you how to perform a test on your power supplie.unplug the 20 or 24 pin connector from your mb. look for a green wire, and then locate the grey one.short these two together(you can use a paper clip or something).if it dosnt power up. your power supplie is bad.also do not short any other wires, and only touch the grey and green for a few seconds as this is not how it was intended to be powered on.

If computer is not powering on then open u r cpu and check the SMPS i.e Switch mode power supply which converts AC to DC it gives a output of 5v & 12v in that the 20 pin or 24 pin connector which is connected to the mother board remove that and short the wires Green and Black and make sure to remove all the power connectors i.e,hard disk,Cdrom or cd writer or DVD writer or any other device and one more connecto which is a four pin connector which is connected to the mother board please remove and test the 20 or 24 pin connector by shorting green and black and behind the smps u have a power cord of ac 220v just plug it and switch on if smps fan rotates that means it's fine then the problem willbe on the mother board just try this
