when a watch has analog hands and has digital portion, 9 times out of 10 it will have 2 batteries inside. A lithium battery and a normal battery. It is possible one died before the other. Usually the lithium (digital portion) lasts longer. Have the battery changed.
Shortcut battery with AC contact. AC can be found on the sides of watch movement(very tiny). You have to use pointed tweezers: one end on battery+, another on AC contact for three secs.
There are two batteries in the watch. One for the digital watch and the other for the analog watch. The battery for the analog side probably needs changing but when the back is opened, you might as well change both batteries.
Who changed the battery, you or a watch repair serviceman? Did you replace the battery bar after you replaced battery? Did you check and see if there was a second battery (some watches have two)
You may need to have it serviced. Or try Fossil at : http://www.fossil.com/en_US/shop/customer_care/static/fossil-Instructions.html
many of these watches require 2 batteries. One for the analog and one for the digital. I would contact a jewelry store to make sure they will change your batteries; since the watch was free to you it will surely be worth the price of new batteries to get it working.
Also, some models do take only one battery but if it is not at a full charge you may have the issue you described.
If not a battery issue, then there are other detailed steps to follow (the jeweler should be able to help you.)
Note: I recommend contacting an independant jeweler (non-chain and non-mall store) because most non-independants will not change batteries in watches they don't sell.
Yes you can adjust digital quartz watches, there be a trimmer inside to adjust the fast and slow.,but that is last option to do if nothing happens.I think when changing the battery you did not clean the battery terminals,so that film residue will gone out.Film residue comes from the liquid comes out from the old battery.this is the most common problem of the battery. After all you clean, next is short ,the terminals. If you forgot this step this is very problem at all,the not working so you better watch out.
The watch is scrolling through the seconds, and is not something that needs to be set. If there is a bottom it is only there to change the way the seconds are scrolling? There are many different types of these, but most are just standard seconds.
