Re: Dell Inspiron 700m blank screen or won't boot
The problem you are facing sounds like either a video board problem, which I believe the 700 is hard solered onto the motherboard or an inverter board. The best way to test this is to hook up an external monitor to your laptop and see if the problem persists. If the problem does not appear on an external monitor, then the problem is most likely the inverter board in your laptop. If you are still having the problem with an external monitor, then your video card is at fault. The video card on this series I believe is hard soldered to the motherboard and cannot be replaced without changing out the motherboard. If the problem goes away with an external monitor then you just have to replace the inverter board on your laptop which you can pickup on eBay for around 30.00 + shipping.

Dell Laptop with bios or hard drive password set ? Unlock your dell laptop using the link below if it display a message that says "this computer system is protected by a password authentication system, you cannot access the data on this computer without the primary or administrator password, when you turn on the computer. This message is what you get if the BIOS is protected by a password. or you get system disabled
Have you tried this: 1. After removing the battery 2. Press and hold the power button for at least 10 sec. 3. Put back the battery 4. Turn it on
if this doesnt work, there could be a problem with your operating system. Try accessing safe mode if you can login .TAP F8 continously on the dell logo screen, and it will open advance boot options. (Just select safe mode) If safe mode boots properly try running system restore to restore it back to the previous date where your computer is still booting to windows. Hope this helps
Hi, It sounds like there is an issue with the system memory.
Remove both the power adapter and the battery. Turn the laptop over and locate the RAM (memory) cover and remove the holding screw. Take out the system memory and clean the brass contacts, also clean the slots that the memory sits in. Re-seat the memory making sure it clips into place nice and tight and replace the RAM cover.
Return power to the laptop and turn it on to see if that has helped.
If it still won't boot up then you may need to purchase new memory for the laptop.
Try connecting it to an external monitor.
When you do, as soon as you press the power button to turn on the laptop, close the laptop lid - as this forces the laptop to display on an external monitor.
If this works, then it means the laptop screen is bad.
If it doesn't, the most likely cause would be that the laptop video card went bad.
For a while, some older Dell laptops with high-end nVidia graphics cards tended to die suddenly.
