Please describe your how to hook up and compaq nc6220 to a tv. I have tried an adaptor with the three prong yellow/white/red to a video adaptor but no luck.

The easiest way to hook up any laptop to a tv is with either an HDMI cord, or an Svideo cord. It looks like your laptop supports Svideo, but make sure your TV supports it as well. The connection should look similar to this: snowyrat_0.jpg
If your TV does have the port, go to a nearby electronics store, and buy an Svideo cord. An employee there should be able to help you find one for a fairly decent price. If your TV doesn't have an Svideo slot, you should be able to get an Svideo to AV converter cord along with your Svideo cord. You can connect the Svideo to your laptop and the Svideo slot in the converter, then plug the AV cords into your TV. Hope this helps!

When i plug in to s-video port on my toshiba m45-s169 laptop to my television it doesnt work.how do i enable the port?

Change the display settings on the laptop to 800x600 - right click on the desktop > properties > advanced tab You will need to select TV out to enable that function use the FN key and the F5 key together and each time you press it will toggle through an output, not necessarily in this order
❖ Built-in display panel only ❖ Built-in display panel and external monitor simultaneously ❖ External monitor only ❖ Built-in display panel and external video device simultaneously (This should be SVideo TV out) ❖ Other external video device only (This should be SVideo TV out)
Press the FN key and the F5 key 4 times
On the TV you will need to select the TV input for the S-Video connector - This may be by selecting an Input AV1, AV2, AV3 etc - without the make and model of the TV I cannot say which to select
Here are some instructions on how to use S-Video - it covers a number of laptops including Toshiba http://www.svideo.com/compaq1700.html
This is a link to the Toshiba support site for that laptop http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=1130627&rpn=PSM43U&modelFilter=M45-S169&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663

Laptop to tv hook up

most modern tvs have vga connector for doing just that look at the back of the tv should be one there. If not then look for what is called a Svideo socket will be a small circle plug with about 5 pins and dont forget to put the tv mode to its respective setting ie P.C or Svideo/ AV1

Trying to hook up a TV to my Dell inspiron 1420 PC using s-video to composite and there is no output on the TV. I borrowed an expensive converter which works perfectly so the computer IS set up properly...

that actually isnt a true svideo port. it does output video, but it needs a converter that dell sells for about 30 bucks (ebay is cheaper). it plugs directly into the "s-video" port on the computer and splits it off into both an svideo connection and an rca connection.

C640 sVideo problem

you definitely need to get the drivedr for the svideo option. it wil actually not show you in the device manager the svideo, but the graphics card details only. to find out if you have a secondary display (svideo) you have to go to your display properties then and see if you have dual display. try to bott also your dell with the svideo-tv already connected and see if you get a post display on your tv. now... i need to know only if your svideo is active, drivers will still be need to get the windows work there.
