First of all you have to remove the knob the get a deep well socket that will fit it.remove the nuts and your switch should pop out to the inside of the unit. Now hold it in your hand and look at it. You have to replace the wires from the old switch to the new switch in the same manner they are attached now. Once this is done try it out out first to make sure it works then reinstall it the same way you took it out. Good luck

I have a gfci/switch and need a 4 wire instructions. As none of the diagrams match what i have.

What device are you replacing... a switch or a outlet?

1) If you are replacing a switch with 3 or 4 wires?
That is either a 3-way switch, 4-way switch, or a DPDT switch and cannot be replaced with GFCI

2) If you are replacing outlet with 4 wires, then it can be replaced with GFCI combo.

3) If you are replacing ordinary single-pole switch, then you can replace with GFCI combo IF the box has a neutral wire

4) You can install GFCI protection on any circuit by installing GFCI earlier in the circuit.

Stove element always on high

If the switch is bad the contacts in the switch are not breaking allowing the switch to regulate the power to the element. The switch will need replacing. unless you are replacing the switch with an exact replacement the wiring can be tricky. many times the company will replace the switch with a different manufacture and the terminals are not in the same location. This can make replacing the switch a bit of a challenge unless you are familiar with how the switch is wired. I would have a service person do this you could short out the new switch if wired incorrectly.

Remove/replace starter sloenoid

your Ignition Switch is bad here is how to replace it
The ignition switch is usually mounted to the steering column and is operated by a linkage rod.
NOTE On column-mounted ignition switches, don't confuse the switch with the lock cylinder and keys. The ignition switch is not normally visible. On some vehicles, the steering column support has to be removed and the column lowered to find the ignition switch. On others, the switch is accessible under the dash.
f32-17gif.gif The ignition switch is operated by the key switch. Courtesy of Ford Motor Company. To replace the switch:
  • Remove the ignition switch wiring harness.
  • Unbolt it from its position.
  • Bolt the new switch into position.
  • Attach the witing harness.

GSW-22 wall button switch

120VAC/3A is the rating of the switch. You are probably installing the switch to control a 120 volt device. 3A is the amperage capacity of the switch, which is not much. If you are replacing a wall switch that controls lights, I would recommend replacing it with a standard toggle switch. They are rated for 15 and 20 amps. Those button switches are meant to be used to control single devices.

Was replacing the ignition switch and accidently broke off a silver piece off of where the switch goes connected. Can you some one tell me if this can be replaced and if I have to replace the entire key...

Replacing An Ignition Switch..

If The Ignition Switch Is Defective, It Must Be Replaced Regardless. Before Removing A Dashboard-mounted Switch, The Tumbler (Lock Mechanism) Must Be Removed From The Switch.Normally A Small Piece Of Wire Is Inserted Into A Hole IN The Front Of The Switch And The Key Is Turned. This Will Release The Tumbler From The Switch So The Tumbler Can Be Pulled Free. Then Unplug The Wires And Remove The Old Switch.

A Steering Column-mounted Ignition Switch Is Separated From The Tumbler. It Is Normally About Halfway Down And On Top Of The Steering Column. To Remove This Type Of Switch, Remove The Fasteners Holding The Steering Column To The Dash. This Will Let The Column Drop Down So You Can Replace The Ignition Switch.
