Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

While watching TV, it suddenly turned off and turned on again, as if it was re-starting (the cable box never shut off). When the TV came back on, the picture now looks "concaved" and the red, blue and green colors are separated -- almost like in 3-D.

    Dear blueextc3221,

Thank you for your reply to my projection TV problem. I thought I put the make and model number on a different screen, but here it is again: RCA Model # D52W23.

I'll try to get the convergence. Hope it works! thanks, again!

Your convergence needs to be adjusted.
This aligns the 3 color lamps to get 1 good picture.
Consult your owners manual for "Setting the Convergence" - as you have not entered a make or model #.
Some sets like mitsubishi have auto-convergence - and in that case - the repair would require a service call.... as the convergence board (or a component on it) has failed.

Thanks for using FixYa!!

I have a Sharp Aquos # LC-45GD4U. It now suddenly turns off by itself and stays off until I turn it back on. This happens while watching live TV or playing back a recorded show. Ideas?

Check the ventilation fins on the back. Sometimes they get obstructed with dust and then heat builds up. The TV then shuts down to protect itself from overheating. You can use a blow dryer to blow it out.

Motorola DCT6412 Cable box

Ive seen this before...that may be indicative of an upgrade of the software in the cable box that comes from your cable provider. The best thing to do is plug it back in, let it get the "yellow ring" for a bit, and wait for the upgrade (it make take 10 - 15 minutes). Then things should return to normal... If the condition persists, try to call the cable company.

No Video for my cable tv. Audio works

You have the TV connected to the cable box with an HDMI cable, I'll bet. The problem is with the cable box. If you unplug the cable box and plug it back it it will reboot and proabably work. You should connect the cable box to the TV using component cables and you won't have this problem again.

Power button Flashes

For the first one, please list the model number and count the blinks. Also, can you please post each problem separately. It will get too confusing trying to address 3 sets with different but similar problems.

Tv turns off after 15 minutes of use

For bobby11 and luis, it is the power supply. Part Number EAY34797001 in the 42" and EAY34796801 in the 32". This is a known problem, and somebody should start a Class Action against LG over this one. Part is available online and easy to swap out for anyone with the most basic knowledge.
