Simply go to programmes >accesories>system tools>system restore and choose a date before the day that the icon dissapeared.

I can not get signal wi-fi when i try TP-LINK TL-WN722N connected to PC...but when i try in notebook there is no problem. My notebook and PC have same OS,thanks

Usually ordinary desktops doesn't have the capability to connect to a WLAN Network because there won't be any WiFi antenna embedded on the motherboard. But in the case of laptops for the ease of use of network services wherever you go they come fitted with WiFi antenna and hence can connect to a wireless LAN network by the flip of a switch.Connecting to a Wireless LAN network has nothing to do with OS because it is a Hardware feature. Please don't forget to rate me if satisfied with my solution. Thanks for choosing Fixya.

Linksys wre54G range extender - lights went out and despite unplugging, disconnecing, autoconfig. and reset button maneuvers, there are no lights and no function. What's going on??? Is it broken, burned...

have you recently changed the firmware in the unit. you may wish to go to the linksys website and download the correct firmware for the unit and reflashing it.

do a google search on "bricked" routers, i've repaired a couple and it's semi-complicated but it does work.

Network Connections missing icon. Plus others problems.

XP tags "Local Area Connection #" with your Network Adapter. If you have a built-in LAN, it will take Local Area Conn 1" and when you disabled it and plugged in a new network adapter, it will be named Local Area Conn 2 and so on in that pattern. Your Local Area Connection will only be back when you plug the original Network adapter that XP tagged as Local Area Connection. It is not "variable" where you can choose how to name it.

My wireless icon on my compaq Presario f500 has disappeared

Checked your router Wifi settings, and if wireless parts is enabled there, and the rest of the settings.
Maybe some joker broke in, happened to me just 4 weeks ago.
Or some software caused factory default. Or ISP forced that resetting WEP and/or WPA settings. The one I have gives out one router wireless (Alcatel) only with locked firmware only they can control :((

Linksys WPC54GS wireless adapter installation issue

There's a possibility that the adapter is defective. However, you may still try the following:

1. Make sure to uninstall the software if you still have it installed. Remove it from the Programs list or under Add/Remove Programs.
2. Check Device Manager and make sure adapter is not under Network Adapters nor Other Devices. It might be called Network Controller if driver is not installed correctly.
3. Unplug card, shutdown computer and when PC is powered off, plug card back and restart computer. You may insert the CD on this process, but do not run/continue the CD setup wizard.
4. When computer is back on, you should get a Found New Hardware bubble message or wizard.

Just finish the wizard and tell me how it went. Goodluck!

Wont connect to wireless network

first, I suggest trying a different USB port. remove the adapter and the icon should disappear, so if the usb port is loose or broken that may be why its acting like that. Plug it into a different port and try it. You may have to reinstall the driver for the next usb port depending on your system
