I've connected the hose, but the smaller one that puts through the solution is one of the problems. I received this product without instruction, from someone. Also I don't understand were the water drains into. There is no separt section inside the canister for the dirty water. Is there suppose to be one?

I accidentally vacuumed up a small plastic bag. Now I have no suction. No plastic bag is visible in the canister or the hose. What do I do?

Take my word for it, the plastic bag and / or its' remains is / are somewhere in the hose. Visibility of clear plastic in the dark environs of the interior of the hose is extremely limited if possible at all. Some hoses are corrugated on the inside especially if so on the outside. Without specificity as to brand my best first shot would be to attach the hose to the vacuum cleaners exhaust and try to blow the plastic back out the hose. The exhaust is the port from which the air comes out when everything's working as it should. Even before that, disconnect the hose from the canister, turn on the machine and see if there's any suction at the port where the hose attaches. No suction at the port eliminates the hose as the problem. If your machine will run without a bag, take the bag out and momentarily turn the machine on. Suction with no bag = bad bag. Still no suction= a trip to the vacuum service / sales store

My husband accidentally dislodged the belt on my kenmore canister vac. how can we disassemble the head to put the belt back on?

There should be 4-5 screws on the bottom of the brush assembly, remove them and you will see the brush and belt, remove each end of the brush assembly they should lift up and out of the housing, and either replace or reailine the belt on the motor side of the housing.

The canister will not snap back onto the front of the vacuum.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If the canister won't reattach to the vacuum, you might want to check you have it assembled correctly - you can find out how to do this in the user guide supplied with your cleaner. In case you don't have this to hand, here's an online copy:

If you're certain the bin is assembled correctly and it still won't attach to the cleaner, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly so one of our experts can run through some troubleshooting checks over the phone with you. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

It's 5 years old and I vacuum twice a week about 900 sq ft. It is starting to smoke and the belt sounds like it's working overtime. The hose is fine. The bag is continuing to fill up. The floor...

Make sure that the dirt bag is empty and that the motor bearings are good. Also check for any debris that may be gumming up motor bearings and forcing it to run slow.

You also can check out the motor brushes and replace them.

Smoke came out of vacuum cleaner while I was using it - what would cause this?

belt probably melted due to brush assembly seezing ,this has a bearing on each side and if you replace the belt and brush assembly make sure you clean all the ols belt residue off the shaft motor ,put it all back and you are good to go

Fantom Canister Vacuum parts
Fantom Canister Vacuum parts

Hi, Don. I'm in need of a part for my Fantom Canister. It's a little difficult for me to describe but here goes...the part is the small metal "pins" that are found in the connection between the hose and the motorized floor attachment. There are normally 2 found in that area, they are about an inch long and I guess they pass the electricity between the hose and attachment. Any help is appreciated.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sound so me that it could be a lower wand with the pins in the end or the part of the power nozzle and the part that the lower wand fits into is called the gooseneck and that can be replaced as well. If it is part of the hose then you may have to replace the hose and that could be expensive or over $100.00 or more, as an estimate. The best place to get the information is the owner’s manual under trouble shooting or to cal the Fantom factory of which I will provide for you @ the bottom; or your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. Rainbow d4se assembly

Generic problem for all Vacuums
Rainbow d4se assembly
How to assemble correct movable fan gen., middle fan spacer, rexair d4 lower stage fan and so on? Which side goes first?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
You can change the fans on the RexAir / Rainbow vacuum but sometimes that is only a temporary fix, the fans would be new but the rest of the motor may burn out sooner with the added load to the motor and sometimes it is more cost efficient to replace the motor than to repair it and have it break down or burn up the motor, as far as the spacing
You can refer to the nearest vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages or call the RexAir/Rainbow factory for a schematic of the breakdown of the motor, and you can also cal the factory or check the website and download the owners manual from the website. Customer Service
