Clicking noises are bad! It generaly means that the arm that reads the data is breaking or is broken. I hope you have back up of the data because to get it fixed is not worth the cost.

Plug in cord and just hear clicking noise not connecting to a computer

This means that the WD could is trying to connect to the computer but looses the connection. Try plugging the usb cord in another usb slot on your computer. Or try using another cable. Make sure the WD is not giving out any red led light on the device.

Will not load operating system, have tried resetting defaults but still not loading. It is also making a clicking noise? Not sure how to troubleshoot this issue. The operating system is XP?

The clicking noise is usually associated with a hard drive fault, one of the arms that run on the platters inside the hard drive has become jammed. Unfortunately i am afraid if this is the problem, then you will have no option but to purchase a new hard drive

Please leave feedback for me if this helped you

Computer will not read hard drive, at the startup it just says 0mb as if nothing was there, but everything else shows up and also it makes a clicking noise when turned on.

There are several possible problems to look for. It could be a faulty hard drive or your hard drive has bad sectors on it. If you have another hard drive try using a different hard drive.
