Lid handle is breaking. The Gasket/Seal that is under the actual handle has been cracking and falling apart. Need a new top/lid or the Gasket that goes under that handle.

I need a lid and control knob for a Rival scv601. I can't find either on line and tried to call, but number given on crockpot wouldn't go through.
SOURCE: Broken Lid handle
We had the same problem with ours , if you have the time and patients you can repair these quite easy . I am the come to when something is broke since I do this on a daily basis. This method will work on most if not all brands of slow cookers with plastic handles
For these repairs I recommend JB weld , the industrial will endure heat up to 500* the handles should not ever hit that high so it is safe to use . ( I do not have any links to them this is from personal experience only)
Things you will need to do this project :
The major pieces that are broken ,
JB weld (found at most stores like lowes , home depot , or even walmart in automotive)
Disposable plates (you will need several )
Disposable spatulas (popsicle sticks worke well for this)
Tooth picks
1 flexable cutting board (can be found at most dollar stores in a 2 pak)
Sand paper in several grits from the roughest (100-) to the silkiest (320+)
Paint grille paint works well
Items you may wish to use :
Bamboo skewer
Hot glue
You will understand the above shortly .
Clean work area that will allow you to spred out and not be disturbed during the curing times
Start out by finding the major peices of the broken part in this case the handle. Next clean a work area off , take a disposable paper plate or such spread two (2) equal parts of the jb weld on to the plate take a disposable spatula such as a craft stick , and mix the epoxy is off white and black so when it mixes it will be a grey color . Mixing takes just a few short minutes to do . Take your parts and make sure you have them lined up as they need to go take a tooth pick and spread this on to the pieces that need to be joined both sides . Place them to gether , wait a few minutes and spread a bit onto one side of the broken piece . (If you have multipule peices becareful to not get the epoxy on the edges of those pieces you will have to do the the steps seprately , if it is just 2 pieces it is not as bad) spread the extra over the parts squeeze them tite and let sit over nite in a cool dry area under 80* with low humidity to aid in drying , curing time is about 72 hours or so .But you can hand sand down the epoxy after about 12 hours DO NOT put alot of pressure on it , it is still not fully cured ! Flip the handle over and do the same , but remember you are just looking to rough it up a bit dont worry about scuffing up the plastic , Next mix a bit more and try to spread a level layer over the first bit of epoxy extend out a bit .. Flip over and add an addtional layer on the underside sit it down and go about your day , after a few days you can sand it smooth check for any pieces that need filled in and do so at this time . Follow the curing times again and the sand down as above . Once you acheive the repair you want and the smooth finish it is time to wash under cool water and let air dry over nite . Next day , take the bamboo stick and the hot glue (hot glue is not permanate on metal ) , place a glob of hot glue in the screw hole place the skewer in let cool now you have a handle on your handle and you have protected the screw hole . Take out to a well ventalated area and paint allow to dry add a second coat if needed per the directions on the paint . Once you acheive this and your paint is fully cured you can remove the skewer and hot glue by picking it out , hand wash and return the handle to your lid . VOLIA it is fixed for not alot of money . Once you do this you will be amazed at the uses for the epoxy and how very easy it is to do !

Never buy a Rival product again? Sounds like the only solution to me!

I am Jo Anne Gomez who posted original problem and thought the problem was resolved with husband putting on a knob he found at the hardware store. Just wanted to let you all know that the handle we thought would solve the problem DID NOT....after he replaced the knob and we did another roast in it the lid totally shattered after we'd cooked another roast (luckily the glass did not get into the food), however, this is just a BAD PROBLEM and these lids should ALL be recalled. I have seen, just recently, the exact same crock pot and lid being sold for much less. I think that these crock pots should not even be sold but taken off the market to prevent lawsuits or horrible problems. Just wanted to let you know our solution did not work and Rival was not helpful at all.

For what it's worth, when the handle on my mother-in-law's crockpot broke, I went to Home Depot and bought a cheap wooden drawer knob (about $1 as I recall). I put a plastic washer between the knob and the glass and another under the screw head from the bottom (to prevent cracking the lid), tightened the screw and good as new.
