Re: Hard Drive

There is usually a small coer you have to remove, held by a couple of screws. It should have a HDD symbol on it; it usually looks like a small barrell.

After you remove this cover there may be one or two more screws holding the HDD frame, and after you remove these you should be aole to pull the small frame with the HDD out. There is usually a small plastic tab you can pull to get it out.

You then have to loosen the existing drive frmo the  frame, replace it with the new one and slide it in. replace all the screws, and you're done.

Iintend to change my sata hard drive to a SSD hard drive. How do I format before change

When you install Windows on your new SSD hard drive you can then transfer data from your old hard drive using an USB hard drive adapter or install the old hard drive into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an USB external hard drive after you have transferred your data to your laptop.
When you connect the USB hard drive adapter to the laptop, the laptop will see it as an external storage device, you can then open the various folders anf files and copy them to your new hard disk.

Hard drive

have you made any changes to your bios? usually when i see this come up the bios has been changed or the hard drive has gone bad. you can try unscrewing the panel on the bottom of your toshiba that has a cylinder looking symbol next to it to check the hard drive. but most of the time like i said, this happens is because the hard drive is not being recognized/checking in during P.O.S.T. which usually means bad hard drive

Good Luck!

I change the hard drive in my toshiba, i will start but then go off

"you changed to hard drive." Hard drives are shipped blank, like the problem you are having. You need to buy a copy of your flavor of OS to install on the hard drive. Learn how to correctly say what your problems are, as there are many.

Changed HD know laptop wont come on

your hard drive has your operating system on it if you can't boot from your cd you may have to change your settings to do can also back up and change one item at a time for instance put your original hard drive back in long enough to get the new monitor working then after making sure your system is set up to boot from the drive you will be loading your operating system from, change your hard drive again. At least this way you can narrow down what the problem may be.If not fix it.

Acer aspire 4315

Take out the hard drive from the laptop and reseat it back into position. Sometimes reseating the hard drive will get it to be recognized by the BIOS. After you reseat the hard drive, go into the BIOS and see if its recognized in there. If it is then try to format the hard drive. If it still doesn't see it then your hard drive will need to be replaced.

You don't need to change or buy another hard drive, unless you want to install a larger size hard drive.
Boot up with the Windows CD and reinstall Windows.

Travelmate 2308 hard drive

Hello Goober....
Sure , You can change the settings here:

Click on Start (bottom Left corner of screen)
Click On Control Panel
Click on Power ..or "Power Options"(the icon for power settings)
look there for what is Checked and Unchecked.... (in windows vista- you will have to first click on.. "change plan settings")
Once there.. You can change how your hard drive Runs... in Windows XP you just set the hard drive to .. NEVER... or you can simply set it to shut off after 30 minutes or an hour...
In windows Vista, to set the Hard Drive settings you will first need to click on...Change Advanced Hardware Settings...
Then Choose Hard Disk...then edit the settings there...

Hope it Helps... Happy Computing
