We also have a stylemaster 907773. The center agitator keeps coming off. What to do?

The inside of that columnar piece has a "Collar" in the open end that is coming apart, too. We'd like to save the washer if possible.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet: gray plastic agitator poece inside drum broke off

here's the part number for the replacement 8182233, thinking it may come as a 3 pack , if they're not broken no need to replace. but the new one will simply slide in and with a click forward lock into place. they also come shipped with a screw to secure. in order to install screw you'll need to remove the top of the washer(3 screws across the back of the top assy and slides back and off. then you'll see the top of the tub area, a small black hose will run from the white box to the left to directly top of the tub assy. remove ethe hose from the tub and spin the inner drum to the correct position, they screw hole will line up through the opening, re-secure the hose to the tub and your in!

Whirlpool stylemaster 4217141 REV A Agitator/spin cycle broken upper agitator spins by hand but tub won't spin

open the lid and get a model #, sound like all you need is agit dogs # 80040. then remove top of the agitator, could be a softener dispenser. under that you will find a plastic cap, pull up with needle nose pliers. under that you will find a 7/16 or 1/2 bolt, remove the bolt and the agitator can be lifted off. the agitator can now be split into to pieces, turn the top half over and the assy with the agit dgs will fall out. simply replace and reassemble and DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN BOLT. just snug it up. should be fine.

Trying to remove the agitator from a kenmore top loader. took off agitator cap but there is no nut down inside. i see metal but nut drivers and sockets won't fit, down opening. should i just pull up on the...

1.Remove the agitator center cap by either pulling straight up or gently placing a flat blade screwdriver into a slot located in the cap.
2.If the agitator is equipped with an inner cap with a handle, remove this as well by pulling straight up.
3.Remove the center bolt of the agitator. You will have either a 7/16" hex bolt or a recessed square plastic nut. If you have the square recessed type, use a 3/8" to ½" ratchet adapter to remove.
4.Remove the agitator by grasping the bottom flange and carefully pulling straight up. Try to keep all the parts assembled while doing this, so do not pull too hard. This will make this repair much easier.
5.Place your hand over the top of the agitator and separate the upper portion of the agitator from the lower portion and turn the top half over in your hand. The agitator dog assembly will come out in your hand.
6.With the agitator dog assembly in your hand, lay the rest of the agitator aside. Pay careful attention to how the dogs are installed. Remove the worn dogs and reinstall new ones. It's that simple.
7.With all the dogs replaced and the assembly still in your hand, place the upper part of the agitator over the top of it, upside down, ensuring the inner assembly tabs align correctly.
8.Now keep your hand over the agitator top to hold all the pieces together and turn the entire assembly over (upright position).
9.Carefully align and reinsert the upper portion of the agitator to the lower portion. Again, making sure the two pieces align correctly.
10.Place the entire agitator assembly back on the gearcase shaft and reinstall center nut. NOTE: DO NOT over tighten the nut, or the agitator will not spin correctly. Just make the nut snug. Reinstall center cap and inner cap (if equipped).

These instructions should give you the basics on how to perform this repair. Since there are various agitator types in use by Whirlpool and Kenmore, assembly can vary.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating and POSITIVE TESTIMONIAL is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

Top of agitator does not agitate with lower agitator.(dual agitation) whirlpool model LA3860XW00

You will need to replace the Dogs. Take cap off of the center of the agitater, take bolt out of center and pull agitater up and off. Pull two pieces apart. There are four dogs that catch on gear teeth inside your agitater. The four dogs come in a hit, sometimes with a couple other pieces. Has to do with which model you have) replace these four and any other pieces that come in the kit you order. This will fix your problem.

Cuisinart Brew Central 12-cup Coffee Maker Filter Basket Anti-dripo has come unattached. We have a spring and the anti-drip puiece. How do they go together?

Hello tfsmithcambr,
You need 3 pieces. The bottom plug, the spring, and the collar. Slip the spring over the plug. Insert the plug into the basket end. Slip the collar onto the inside the basket end of the plug shaft until it clicks. Should be good to go. If this does not work or you are missing a piece, you may need a new basket. Hope this is helpful. Good luck and kind regards, NormanZ

Kenmore Series 70 top load barely agitates....

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Three places to look.

1. Assuming that this washer has a two piece agitator, I'd check the "agitator dogs" on the top section.

2. It's possible that the splines on the agitator have worn over time.

See the following description of how to remove the agitator.

Look inside the agitator at the splines.

3. It's also possible that the splines on the agitator shaft have worn.

With the agitator off, check the condition of the splines. If they are worn, the options are to replace the agitator shaft (disassembling the transmission) or replacing the transmission itself.

How do I remove the agitator?

Technically, the agitator should just pull straight up and off. Realistically, that just might not be that easy. There is an agitator puller. If you take the small plastic cap off the top of the agitator (if it is still there) you then slip a metal ring over the top of the agitator and tighten down three set screws into the plastic on the side of the agitator, near the top. (biteing into the plastic, but not enough to crack the agitator) Then, a pull collar is hooked over the edges of the pull collar and the center of the puller goes right down the center of the agitator (right on the center of the transmission shaft) Perhaps you could fashion your own pull collar. Your machine is well over the average life of a washer, so I wouldn't worry too much about damage to it. It may be time to invest in a new machine soon. Please don't bother rating, as anything but a Fix-Ya drops my score. Good luck with your repair.
