Question about Televison & Video

We have a Proton VT-290. Black and white movies have a purplish tint. I cannot correct the color by adjusting the tint, color, or black and white control buttons. Is this problem fixable?

It may just be your tv. some tv's have that type of problem sometimes. actually, i wouldnt say its a problem, just a lack of effort in the makers of your tv. if you dont mind the problem, just dont worry about it. if it just drives you crazy, get a new tv.

Your tv needs to be re gray scaled
The guns are old and you have to adjust the guns from time to time
The reason that it is purple is that the green gun is weaker than the other two Red and blue (purple)
If you are not comfortable adjusting the guns call in a pro
Thanks

Panasonic Viera PC-to-TV Via VGA has Purple Tint

Purple Panasonic PC>TV Problem:
The VGA cable uses three primary color RGB channels.
Red, Green, and Blue.
The picture is made up of pixels or dots arranged in a grid along the "X" horizontal axis and "Y" vertical axis.
The computer mixes the intensity of each color channel to create a unique color per pixel.
All RGB at 100% creates white.
R+G creates yellow.
R+B creates magenta, ie purplish.
G+B creates cyan.
So a purplish tint sounds as if your Green wire has no signal, which may indicate a faulty VGA cable or VGA socket.
Put another way, (R+G+B)-G=R+B=magenta.
So try another VGA cable, spray all socket pins with "Servisol " or similar contact cleaner.
0%<--------->100%
Cyan<------->Red
Magenta<--->Green
Yellow<------>Blue
All 0%=Black; All 50%=Grey; All 100%=White.

Green tint

Go to a channel that is in black and white and turn color all the way off.

Screen should be a black and white or gray color.

If green there is a fairly easy way to adjust--let me know what you find and I will tell you how to attempt the adjustments.

My Hitachi 51f510 projection tv just started to have a problem with the color. It appears that the tint is red/pink and I have no control over it.

For me to help you (I think I know what is wrong and it is fairly simple to correct) I need to ASK you something.

If you turn the color all the way to zero and go to a channel that is in black and white, what color is the screen?

If it is red or redish a simple adjustment will correct this problem.

Is the picture with color down to zero on a black and white channel (old movies) red looking?

Before you rate this information, let me know what you find. I am in California and will be available for a while.

Green tint I can't seem to fix

Hopefully someone on here has a manual and can tell you exactly where the tint controls are. Also need to try adjusting the color level, turn it clear down so you have a black and white picture.
Is the picture still green over the screen with the color control
set clear down to black and white? If it does, you might
have an issue with the green gun going out or problem in the
circuitry to it.

By the way, the best way to adjust the picture settings on a
tv are to first turn the color control clear down, then adjust
brightness and contrast for best black and white picture, then
bring up the color level to where it should be and adjust the
tint for best red/green ratio.

it depends on what your using it for, adjust colour tones to what you think looks natural, contrast between 80-90, keep sharpness below 30. just have a play around till you find what best suits the source material.

Screen Green Tint

Turn down your color and see if the screen has a normal black & white screen. If it doesn't then the CRT is bad (picture tube). If it is black & White then you have a either lost your red or blue.That problem will be in your video driver circuit of which a service center can handle.
