Dishwasher has terrible smell and water lays

Dishwasher has terrible smell and water lays inside tub.

- The drain is not plugged. Water goes through with no problem.
My drain line from the dishwasher to garbage disposal is NOT looped. I'm going to try to loop it tomorrow and see if that takes the smell away. I'm sure it's from the sink water that ran down the drain line to the diswasher and sits there until the next time the dishwasher is used.

The drain is plugged. You will have to pull out the dishwasher and clean out the drain port. A repair person could also do this for the price of a house call. The smell is coming from the dirty water in the tub. You'll have to bail this out before making the repair.
