Had one do that not long ago. The problem was the idler pulley that pushes against the belt when you pull the engage lever on the handle was not lined up with the belt. I just bent the idler bracket to line up the pulley with the belt. Maybe this will help, assuming you have the same model.

How to put on new belt

https://www.partstree.com/parts/troy-bilt/edgers/tb516ec-25a-516-966-troy-bilt-edger-2011/general-assembly/

Zoom into the diagram, remove (item 45) belt cover to expose the belt and pulleys. Take note of how the belt is routed.! you will need to follow the same route with the new belt. You may need to remove the Blade guard (item 40) if the belt doesn't fit over the head of the guard. There may also be a sprung idle tension pulley, which will take up the slack in the belt once replaced. Looks pretty straight forward.

Troy built lawn mower (riding) won't go full

I did not know riding mower had a gas pedal. I know if you leave the throttle control up all the way the engine will choke out. The pedal you are pushing, I think, is the forward/reverse hydrostatic transmission. You may need a new drive belt. The one you have now may be stretched out.
Good Day.

I have a troy-built rear blade tiller. It starts fine but when the blades hit the ground they stop turning.

Your belt is likely slipping. To adjust the belts, slide the block down that the roller on the forward/reverse lever uses to lock the tiller into forward. Use a 9/16" wrench to loosen the bolt on the backside of the block, then slide the block down a bit and retighten the bolt. If it's not the belt slipping, you've got transmission gear or bearing problems that could be costly to repair. I hope it's the simple adjustment.

Changing Drive belt On Troy Built Tiller

You have to remove the engine (4 bolts, no big problem), then remove the bolt in the center of the pulleys, then remove the pulleys. Slip the belt(s) (2 if you have the Super Bronco model) onto the pulleys, re-attach the pulleys with the bolt, re-mount the engine, and you're home free.
