Question about Dell Inspiron 710m Notebook

1 Answer

Running very slow. Takes a long time to boot up and slow to respond to programs on this computer. I've deleted many programs I rarely use as a result, but it still is too slow for my satisfaction. I bought this computer in 2006 and it performed perfectly until about a year ago.

There is many issues that can cause pcs and laptops to run slow removing programs probably wont help that much you need a cleaner program like ccleaner or auslogics boostspeed which is a good one! www.ccleaner.com or www.auslogics.com/en/software/boost-speed

How can i speed up a emachines computer running windows 7?

i did some work on a new computer that was running extremely slow. I did a control alt delete to go to win task manager. then go to processes and saw that one program was consumin a great amout of the processor usage. I disabled the program and the machine ran fine, I don't know what the program was, but appearently it was not needed. If you get into windows either in regular mode or safe mode, see what is running on your startup menus. something is tying up the computer. i have not used either of your pieces of soft ware, but maybe the Avast is set to do a scan everytime the computer boots. Hope this helps.

Not responding programs

Your computer is possibly infected by virus or malware.
Boot up into safemode with networking by pressing the F8 key as the computer boots up. Now if you can go online download and install advanced system care 8 which is free and do a full scan of your computer.Afterwards reboot your computer and see if it is running better.

Slow performance

First of all, SAVE ALL OF YOUR IMPORTANT DATA! Not programs, just Data. You can reload the programs.

Open Internet Explorer, Tools, Windows Update. Select Custom.
Install all the updates. Repeat until you no longer have updates to install.

Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup.
While that is running open your TEMP folder and delete everything in it. Then open the Windows folder and delete all files starting with $NTUninstall. In the Windows\TEMP folder and delete everything.

After that I like to search for all *.bak; *.tmp and ~*.* files and delete them.(They're all temp files)

After all that Open My Computer and Right Click on the C: drive. On the Tools Tab select Check Now. Check Automatically Fix Errors and Scan For and Attemp Recovery of Bad Sectors. Click START and reboot your PC. This will take a long time. When that is finished, go back to Tools and Select Defragment Now. This also will take a long time.

This whole process takes a long time if this is the first time you've done it so, be patient.

My computer is running slow it takes 10 mins to load up from start

things to try ,
1 depending if you have windows vista or xp or 7
if vista start, all programs, accessories, Command and prompt, Right Click it then run as administrator.
if xp just click it,

then Type chkdsk /f
this is a command to scan the computer for errors and fix them. reboot the computer and wait for it to do the scan this should make it a bit faster , try defragment , delete your browser history and cookies, disk cleanup on accecoties, system tools

Computer takes longer to boot up, plus is running very slow

1. To increase PC boot speed:
There must be too many programs automatically start when you boot your PC. To manage them, click Run, type in "msconfig", select "Boot", then you can disable unnecessary programs from that list.

2. To increase PC running speed:
* Adding RAM is the most effective method, but if the RAM is already at the maximum, then do the following.
* Run disk cleanup and defragmenter. But to be honest, the built-in Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter run quite slow and they will take you quite a long time, so I never use them. Third-party programs are better.
* Run registry optimizer software and defrag. No Windows built-in tools to do this. Search on google or refer to this free registry cleaner review.

MY COMPUTER IS SO SO SLOW IT TAKES FOREVER TO DO ANYTHING WHY IS THIS? IM NOT EXAGERATING IT TAKES FOREVER TO DO ANYTHING

Delete any start-up programs you don't want or use, this will help make it faster at boot-up. Go to Start Button > Programs > Start Up then delete unused programs.

You can also run disk defragmenter. Which will speed up the process of looking up files, making your computer faster. To access Start Button > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter.

There are other ways to make your computer faster like running anti-virus, spyware/adware programs, registry cleaners, and even re-installing Windows. If you still have problems take it to local computer service shop, not a "big box" store like a geek squad (they think everything is a virus).

I hope I helped your computer be faster. If you have questions please contact me on my profile. Good luck!

Speed

Actually there are many reasons why your computer will boot up slow. I can only give you some tips.

Click start>run>type msconfig. On the startup tab uncheck any program that you don't need on startup.

Delete Prefetch files. Prefetch files are being created by windows when you open a program so thaht the next time you open the program it will pull up faster. But having too much prefetch helps slow your computer down on startup because it loads on startup. to delete go to start>run> type prefetch. delete all that you will see there.

For trojan problems the best way to remove them is by running a scan of updated antivurus program. If you don't have one. try SuperAntispyware. it worked for me. =)
